my future pilot

while i was away for my company dinner with the eldest, the youngest was busy accompanying the Daddy studying.

ok well not really studying, she's at the stage where she'd hang on to something - ANYTHING - and try to pull herself up, including clinging to her sisters' hair. HAHA. the thing is, she'd pull herself up to her knees, and then stay stuck in that position until someone rescues her =P. the thing is, she can't even sit up properly yet T_T. she tried pulling herself up using an unstable box and ended up toppling over once -___-.

see? like this.
sorry, i can't sit upright on my own yet

she has obviously gotten the crawling stage down pat. sometimes she'd just lay on her tummy and lift her arms and legs in the air - imagine a sky diver falling out of the sky, lol (or you could imagine an overturned turtle, whichever works for you). i have no idea why she does that though. stretching perhaps?

did i tell you she makes the perfect zombie extra for the Walking Dead? sometimes when she babbles in her own cheeky language, she'll make the exact growling sound a zombie does when they're after something - blearggggggggghhhh, or something like that. it's also a cross between those purple minions in Despicable Me 2, but she sounds more like a zombie to me. it's too funny i always forget to record her on video. i think someone's been eavesdropping when Daddy watches the Walking Dead. haha.

anyway back to the story, she found a new victim that night, smack right in the middle of the floor - the perfect victim to clamber onto and sabotage. but in the end she became Daddy's study assistant and helped him study his Physics (or was it Air Dynamics? no idea). i think she found the book to be much more interesting than her toys and rattles.

*climb climb climb* oh hey, i know that diagram
like this Daddy, i teach you
my favorite part of the book - all words!
still poring over the book like nobody's business

so. can i label her as future pilot? or perhaps, future wall-climbing pilot? =D oh yeah yesterday she was in a good mood to be back carried. how i love these colors on her. i think green suits her better more than me.

willing wearee!

Significant Other attended a maswings assessment last weekend. that's why Dira volunteered to help Daddy study. i dropped him off at MAS Academy at the wee hours of the morning and i could not believe the number of people attending the assessment. kalah pc fair, he says. about 400+ people were present. and then he started ranting about how the odds aren't in his favor, lol belum cuba sudah admit defeat T___T.

anyway despite being 'older and greyer' than the others he beat the odds and managed to make it to the top 18 to move on to the next stage: the interview. ok hor? =D. goes to show that you really shouldn't shoot yourself down before you try, because you never know... anyway. cross fingers and toes and nose hair that he made an impression to get to the final stage. but that's already an accomplishment on it's own for him, don't you think? =D

the camera vault

have you heard of a camera vault? you know, like in hotels they provide you with this safety deposit box for your valuables where you key in some 4-digit pass-code, only this time it's specifically for cameras? LOL
ok so i don't remember its actual name at the top of my head at the moment, so we're gonna call it the camera vault, ok? =P~~~

(ok so i googled it up and they actually call it dry cabinet. bo-ring. i'm still gonna refer to it as vault, ok? =P).

Significant Other recently decided that he didn't have proper storage for his camera equipment (one lens too many) so he's been meaning to look for a cabinet of some sort for quite awhile. he came across this interesting piece of equipment on Shashinki one fine day (or maybe he's been plotting his buy for ages but just never told me, i dunno). so, meet the AIPO Exclusive 'Dry Cabinet'.

when you buy a lens, you'll want to buy proper storage for it, and then you'll want to buy other accessories, bla bla bla and the list goes on (sorta like the book 'when you give a mouse a cookie' bahahahah).

do you know this thingamajig needs to be plugged in? to somehow keep the temperature/humidity just right for the camera equipment to 'stew'. bahahahahahah. ok la, to keep them away from all the moist in the air that can ruin the lens.

the first time they sent it over to the house, they mailed him the wrong model. we had to painstakingly repack the heavy vault (it freakingly weighs 13.5kg!) and send it back to CityLink before they would send the correct one. now whose fault is it again? @_@ apparently they only do pickups at office addresses only, not house address. T__T still an address what.

anyway, here it is, taking up yet another small spot in my already cramped room.

it even has lights!

the glass door is laminated with some fancy artwork design (hence the 'exclusive') so you can't really see what's inside unless you open the vault. that illuminated number in the photo indicates the humidity (RH%) inside the cabinet, determined by some microcomputer digital control. Significant Other says that 40ish value is good for the cameras (apparently there's an optimal preservation parameter table you could look up online that tells you which percentage is good to preserve what). the insides of the vault is lightly padded with some super sponge so that everything stays nice and put without knocking into each other.

belum apa lagi sudah penuh

oh he keeps his watch collection in there too. it apparently runs in the family, this fetish over watches hahahaha.

not to forget this one contraption he also purchased recently: er, i forgot what you call it. oops. spider? spiderweb? LOL. spider camera holster. for the lazy who do not like to hang their cameras around their neck, you can loop it on a belt and fefeeling seperti koboi ahahahahahahahhah basically you can hang stuff on the belt, provided that you don't bump and scrape them against things around you. also provided that you can handle the weight around your waist. if it were me i think i'd feel as if my pants were about to fall off. LOL

random pilot jokes

googled from the Internet:

one:
Two drunk fighter pilots are flying in formation.
Leader to W1: "Can you see me?"
W1 to Leader: "No.""Can you see ME?"
Leader to W1: "No."
W1 to Leader: "Cool, now we are stealth fighters!!!"

two:
Cessna 152: "Flight Level Three Thousand, Seven Hundred"
Controller: "Roger, contact Houston Space Center."

three:
Lost student pilot: "Unknown airport with Cessna 150 circling overhead, identify yourself!"

draw something

this was Significant Other's attempt to cheer me up at midnight.

yesterday he called me up to get me to install 'Draw Something' on my iPhone. i've already downloaded the app sometime ago since i saw someone's twitter comment on how cool it was but i didn't have a chance to try it. i can't seem to search friends via facebook friends though, the app kept auto-closing each time i tried to. jerghhh...

anyway, he was playing cheating, mostly 'writing' words hinting to the actual word (unfair! boo! =P~~~) whole point was to 'draw', no?

so ok la, you gotta applause at his attempt below. bukan senang melukis dengan jari gemuks. heehee. i had a good laugh.

DrawSomething... yeah, i'd say that's definitely something. hahahahahaha.

just because he wants me to

like the title of this post says. someone's flying already, and he loves it.
he passed his JAR Phase I, so on to the next phase. don't ask me what comes next. i just go with the flow.

the other day he asked me to rehearse his conversations with the ATC. and now each time i start the car, he'lls start parroting away like my Insight is the long lost brother sister of the D40.

i get alot of questions each time someone asks me what's he currently doing now.
sometimes i think the easiest answer would be 'he's pursuing his midlife crisis'. hahahah *ok lari sebelum the husband reads this!

satu bar baru

you can tell that i'm really bored because i want to blog about flying but someone is still grounded til next year. pffft =P. i'm on iPhone-less: Day 6 now. teruk kan? you're so dependent on things at your fingertips that when it's gone suddenly you realize you're disconnected from everything - civilization, haha.

p/s. waaaaaaa malcolm sudah fly!!!! (haha i like peeking thru his albums on FB)

anyone going to LIMA this year? it'll be held from 6-10 December 2011 in Langkawi. i think it'll only be open for public viewing on the 9th and 10th. if i were free and had nothing better to do i'd totally 'donate' myself for the Volunteer Programme lolz.

lately i feel like 29 is really really really OLD. sigh.

princess

three receptions. i know someone who got invited to all three but attended not one.
i know someone who attended all three, i really appreciate it, thanks.

anyway, just to show what i had to wear during the three different receptions. i was 2 months along at one reception, lolz. don't have a photo of the two of us at the second reception, i couldn't find any (also, i wasn't too fond of what i wore that day, too kampung-ish).

i was looking for my gamelan pics on my hdd and instead came across quite a number of photos that i never got around to develop and put into proper albums.

i chose the color, and kak mimi did the rest

didn't decide on anything, just went with the flow T__T

songket! not my choice either, but you could never go wrong with white and songket, hehe

if Dayana sees this, she'll surely go 'Mommy, look! Princess!'.

ok i'm off to bed now. i thought i was able to separate Kami from Dayana tonight - mission fail. she charged into my room a couple of minutes later after saying goodnight, asking me 'Mommy where's my purple one???'. chis.

toddling Dinara

now that i'm fairly done with wraps, i've started a new interest/obsession - scarves T_T. i conclude that this desire will never fully be extinguished, sigh. my friend tried to get me hooked onto handbags, but oddly enough i'm not so interested. i guess it's mainly because i've never been able to find the best bag for me yet. i've been using my FS bag since i've been pumping for the past year but now since i've confirmed that i'm ending my journey, i'm moving back to sling bags, the only type of bag that i've really liked. i like my bags to be compartmental since i bring alot of junk with me wherever i go. i've never used diaper bags because i then to lug around things that i don't need.

anyhoo, Significant Other's started his classes already, after a long interval of free-ness. his room has totally transformed from being dull and boring to fun and exciting, seriously. now i almost wished i stayed there too hahaha. you should've seen the amount of stuff he brought to the island. one of his classmates took one look and asked 'is he moving house ah?'. and from 0 chairs to 4 chairs in the room - not provided by management i think, but instead scoured out by the students themselves. still, many things could be improved. let's leave it at that. his battle, not mine.

another 3 months before ground school ends.

oh let's talk about Dinara. she can walk now! she reminds me of a mechanical Elmo when she walks. she shares the same milestone as Dayana now, walking at 14 months. Mommy's gonna need to korek balik Dayana's old shoes for Dinara to wear. she has 4 teeth popping out. i noticed that she has 'labial frenulum', which could result in having a gap between her two front teeth (betul ke aku ni? just from observation je, and referring to my friend's dot who also experienced the same thing). but i think i'll wait awhile before deciding on anything. i remember Dayana's teeth pun rupe senget2 when it was growing in, but now that all 20 are out, they seem all straight and pretty. now i wish she'd brush her teeth properly. i used to have to point out that Jojo's Circus brush her teeth too before i can get a toothbrush anywhere near her mouth. lol.

Dayana weaned off her pacifier by herself at 14 months. Bibik is trying to get Dinara off the pacifier too, but so far i don't know if it's working or not. the kids sleep in their room with Bibik now. last night Dayana even voluntarily went to sleep in her room with Bibik without kicking up a fuss (i told her our TV rosak so my room was looking really boring to a 3-year-old kid haha).

Dinara has started showing signs of mengomel-ling with her blanket just like her sister - well, for her any blanket would do, she seems to prefer her sister's smelly blanket rather than hers T_T. ugh am still trying to find a remedy for this one. my parents had to drive Dayana around the neighborhood to get her to sleep one night because we forgot to leave her blanket with her. even giving her Jaci doesn't make a difference. frankly i'd rather have her drag around a dolly than a blankey. who knows how much dirt she's managed to sweep off the house floor!?

another issue would be potty train. can anyone recommend me a good parenting book on this one? F1!

i watched Real Steel yesterday. i now understand sil's reaction when i asked her how the movie was the other day. i guess she was expecting the movie to be more action-paced, sans the touchy-feely drama you get when it comes to family movies. lol.
