hairstyle makes a difference

funny how a small change in hairstyle can make you look a bit different...
wanna see?

kampung Bambo

fairy bits. wish her hair was more bleached

macam kucing basah

at her prettiest (to me that is)

i updated my phone to iOS 5 yesterday. after the update all my apps vanished and seemingly didn't backup into iTunes so i had to i had to manually reinstall everything again. it didn't help that some apps that were then free now had to be bought to reinstall it, sigh. it took 3 damn hours for the installation to complete T__T.

luckily my Smurfs and Snoopy's Fair game were still intact. hoho.

millie

millie's found a new home! i hope she's permastash there. she really is miss simpleton. yesterday while stopping for gas, i had her in the passenger seat of my car, when the gas attendant who attended to me began peering through my car window. then he beckoned towards his friend and starting talking in a language i don't understand in.

he probably thought i was crazy i had a doll riding in the car with me, haha (i once drove Ipoh-KL with a gigantic Mashimaro seated beside me in the passenger seat, siap pakai seatbelt lagi ok).

i've come to a conclusion that i like freckled dolls, and also i like them fair, and preferably ones without dreads. for now =D. apart from Pamela being my dream doll, this one comes a close second:

bamboletta fever

one of the things that frustrates me is, they tend to look prettier irl photos than in their upload photos. lol. not that i would ever score on bigcartel though. the moon would be pink if i ever were to score one at retail. lol.

anyway, here are some of the dolls that i love with their irl pics for comparison. i conclude that my first criteria would be the hair, followed by the eyes, and freckles is an added plus =P.

i am glad i scored a 15" DFH instead of a 12". the size is rubbing off me, great huggable size =D (and sometimes when people refuse international shipping, that turns out to be a blessing in disguise).

here's Bluebell, old-style Bamboletta. she was a giveaway doll, which means she doesn't have a birth certificate. wish she came with her original shoes though T_T.

this one is Natalie. she has freckles!!! and i seem to love this kind of hair. i think if i only saw her upload photo and not her irl photo, i think i wouldn't even dream of buying her, haha. her original clothes were not helping either =P.

meet Pamela, the one that got away, sigh. i was so close, but the i wasn't in front of the PC at the time. i had just raised enough funds for her without me knowing it, so i guess she wasn't meant for me... for now. another freckled lady! see the hair resemblance with the pic above, lol. at least this one came in a much nicer outfit than Natalie, lol. doesn't help that her birthdate is the same day (26th August) as Dinara.

this one here is miss simpleton. i actually like her sweater. i read that it's a Nonna sweater? i think. i see alot of Nonna sweaters being bought like hotcakes in the doll community. maybe i can get Aida of Aidafiqs to sew one for Kami, hehe. if only the States was just a row boat away =P.

ok just posting them here because i've been saving each pretty dolly pic i come across then i forget who and where i got it from. lol.

speaking of temperature, Dayana's temperature is like a rollercoaster, up and down. she only just fell asleep (funny how the meds didn't konk her out). she's much more agreeable in taking meds, preferring to sit up rather than her lying in my lap. we saw the Dr. this morning (yay i'm ING covered now!) and she refused to even open her mouth for the Dr. to look at. siap jeling lagi. eksi betul. lol. hope she gets well soon. not sure where she got it from.

aidiladha hols

selamat hari raya aidiladha peeps! =) my dad wanted to take a family photo of us (minus Aya, eh Aya nanti mintak abang tolong photoshop aya in kayh) so here it is:

10-second timer shoot

lovely nasi daging from me parents, nyum nyum. kalau boleh nak mintak tapau, lol.

for raya morning ironically i had soto at both in-laws haha. ooh, and someone got an expensive birthday present this year (eh, yakah?). the jakuns that we were, terus mintak test drive. syiok woh. ugh.

mode syiok sendiri. check out the roof!

and since the little one had been sick since last Wednesday and just recovered, on Monday i took her for a short outing... to Tesco. haha. teman Mommy dia beli grapes, milk powder and other junk.

bored in the car, zZzzZ

didn't want to be wrapped, so she got the driver's seat

remember Jaqi? well Dayana wasn't as attached to her as she was to Kami. she practically brings Kami around everywhere she goes. each time i try to hide it, she'll ask, 'Mommy, where's the purple one?'. haih. Mommy mau pinjam pun tak boleh. grrr.

my theory as to why she prefers Kami over Jaqi:
1) Kami is 15", bigger and heavier than Jaqi,
2) Kami has shorter hair than Jaqi,
3) she prefers the color purple than pink.

Kami's the dark-head. Willow is iso a new owner

dragonfly's hollow

iniiiiiiii!!!!

hi i'm Willow, i'm 15"

i hear Dragonfly's Hollow will be moving back to Big Cartel soon =(. i've always disliked BC, if you're not quick enough it'll be close to impossible for you to nab a doll. i like etsy because it gives a fair chance to others in order to grab one - but even then i still can't manage to get one of those 12" dolls. LOL.

it even came with little trinkets:

cheek blush, magnet, sticker, birth certificate

Willow menunggu bas

DFH dolls are made of cotton interlock knit skin, wool stuffing, wool yarn, and cotton fabric for clothes. if you have the extra budget, you can go clothes shopping for dollies instead X_X. or if you're really creative, you can sew them yourself =D.

anyway. i declare this MINE =P~~~ too old for dolls, i don't care. taking care of her hair would pose a hassle, it can definitely drive someone as cerewet as me up the wall if it tangles/unravels. she comes with little red knitted shoes and bloomers too =D.

lunart dolls by Desi

i'm feeling abit girly today! =D

(nahhh, the actual reason is that i've exhausted my fsot pasttime save for that psm i've been eyeing forever and occasional dose of cwp, so i need to find a new hobby haha)

my daughter has been repeating the same thing every day: 'i wanna buy doll for birthday'. and now i feel like i want one for myself ROFL (er, or should i buy one for Dinara for her 2nd birthday? ummm...).

apart from DFH and Bamboletta, Desi is another Waldorf doll maker, yet-to-be well-known, therefore abit more reasonably priced. she's from Spain! and she still offers customs, so at least there's hope for slow internet connectors like me to actually own one. she owns her own Etsy store here.

contrary to what people say about dolls being abit superstitious religion-wise, i still think they're cute.

here are a couple of my faves: (photos are all from Desi)

aren't they cute? =P~~~

bamboletta & dragonflies

one craze follows another. i'm not a dolly person. well, i used to be, i think. when i was younger i had a number of barbie dolls at home. but i also remember that i stripped their clothes off and subjected some of them to a number of horrendous haircuts, which to me come to think of it, seemed like pure torture... oops.

well, at least i didn't tear off their limbs or stick needles into them like they do sometimes in horror movies. hahaha. i didn't really keep them properly because my sister used to steal them away from me. biasalah, whatever the older sister does, the younger one pun nak buat sama... which gets me to think about Dayana & Dinara and the time when they're at that age when they get efficient in bickering at each other, hahaha).

i received quite a bunch of stuffed toys throughout the years while growing up, but only a few became my favorite. i still have my stuffed bunny rabbit i used to have when i was young. it wore a purple swimsuit, i think i named it 'Sandy' (swimsuit = beach = sand = get it?). i went to bed with it every night. even brought it along with me whenever we balik kampung. i faintly remember one time my rabbit looked sooo greyish and dull that my uncle Pak Itam threw it into the washing machine, and it came out putih berseri hahahaha.

i don't look like a stuffed toy person, so i rarely get them as gifts. i'm not a flower person either btw. i hate that they don't last and start to get this weird smell after they wilt and die and they start to decay. ugh.

i remember a good friend of mine once surprised me with this gigantic Mashimaro outside my hostel window during my college years. bapak punya besar, it took up 3/4 of the space on my bed. in defense, when i say 'teddy bear', a mashimaro does not fit the bill. kakakakakaka. i think it eventually went off to live with one of my cousins.

Dayana hasn't shown her fondness for stuffed toys yet, but she loves her Mickey Mouse her Daddy bought her during one of his trips overseas (which i think he actually bought it at the KLIA airport kakakaka). when she was younger she used to regard Mickey AND Minnie as Mickey. Mickey is Mickey, Minnie pun Mickey. she drags it around until the ears almost tercabut. i tried sewing it back, but with the noob skills that i have my sewing came apart not too long after -.- then one day at Empire she saw Minnie being displayed at a makeshift booth and demanded she wanted that one too. at this time she could already differentiate between Mickey and Minnie. haha. cannot kelentong her already, sudah smart, this kid.

anyhoo, i just wanted to crap about Bambolettas and Dragonfly's Hollow (this is one kewl name, eh? sounds spooky and reminds me of the Charmed Ones, hihi). if you're a doll fan and would like to get a unique doll of your own, then these two should make wonderful additions to your home. i fell in love with them at first sight. but one thing turned me off abit for me to get one.

problem is, you can't find them at stores. you need to wait for listing, then you gotta berebut with everyone else to snag them once the list is up and running online. if you're too slow or have a lousy internet connection, then too bad for you. hahaha. ok that's just me being pessimistic. any listing that works this way i confirm tak dapat. i was never that lucky to get anything first time round, huhu.

anyway, since they're actually handmade with natural materials that are safe for your children (both Bambo and DFH i think, i gotta find out more later and i'll update soon wnough) so each of them are unique in its own way. they are also available in 15" height :O and because of that, they're not cheap to begin with. but they're worth it if your little one is into dolls. actually, it doesn't matter if you yourself is the one jakun over these dolls. they're really really really pretty to begin with (the girly side in you can never resist cutsey-pie things, can you? lol i'm talking on a woman's perspective ok, if you're a guy and reading this (and getting bored to death with this post), you're better off going gaga over Transformers or something keke).

for more information on Dragonfly's Hollow, you can go here. operating from the States.

for more information on Bamboletta, you can go here. operating from *ahem* Canada :D

source: Bamboletta FB fan page

or you can also look them up on Facebook (everything is about Facebook and Twitter these days... hmmph). lol. i'm just writing this post just for fun, mainly with the hopes that Dayana will one day be into these type of dolls so i have a reason to stalk their listings =P. i know a friend of mine is currently being enabled over these dolls. for now stalking them is just too taxating for me, i'd rather stalk that silk indio i raved about earlier.

=P.

another thing i don't like about these type of products is that since they're not available in stores, the resell prices can skyrocket and can even be auctioned off at ebay for an arm and a leg. i kind of find it abit of a turnoff that way. ntah la, that's just me. i'd rather have it that everyone should be able to own one and not have to pay htf prices, which is sometimes just ridiculous even for just a doll, for God's sake.

but then, the world is unpredictable and crazy at times. heck, i read in the paper that someone was willing to waste 100k on a bloody car platenumber. what for????? will you be sleeping with the platenumber? sometimes people have too much money to begin with they just don't know what to do with it. haha.

if i was able to turn into a doll, here's what i wish i could look like =P:

source: Dragonfly's Hollow FB fan page

ok i'm off to lunch. i'd better write whatever i can while my brain's still wired up :D. today Mothercare is on sale, i need to get teats for Dayana because she has managed to ruin every single teat on her bottle -.- (to begin with, i have never replaced her teats before this, punye la kemut hahaha).

jyane~

p/s. izzah, happy belated besday! bile yek? sorry kakly terlupa wish... heee~
