birthday at KL bird park

on Saturday my friend invited the kids to her three dot's combined birthday party at KL bird park. luckily Waze got me there in one piece, i actually don't know where the bird park is, hahahah. to me birds are beautiful, but they're boring and they love to poop (ahhh marah la semua burung2 kat bird park tu). i didn't even know you could hold parties here, check out the link to some of the packages that they offer.

i thought it would be an interesting experience for the kids to go to (and they seemed bored out of their minds staying at home all day) so i woke them all up early and off we went. the party was scheduled from 11am-2pm, if you're late you'd miss the quick tour in the bird park.

the map, just in case you don't have Waze to help you =P

bibik followed as well, so i opted to bring the stroller so that Sophia wouldn't wander about like she always does. the event was held in a separate area, away from the official bird park entrance. i'd have to say, getting to the event area wasn't really stroller-friendly, it was stairs, stairs and more stairs all the way. at least the bird park helpers were helpful enough to lug the stroller down the stairs, and up again, haha. next time i'm just gonna stick to babywearing, thank you.

hmmm takde gambar the birthday girls la pulak

with kids involved, it was difficult to keep to the schedule, so the large group of us strolled through the park in our own pace as we made our way to the Amphitheater, where we were given a fantastic display performed by the birds themselves. the show started at 12.30pm. as usual, my mushroom of a kid never seems to smile for the camera T__T.

camwhoring before the Bird show

after the show, we all headed back to the party, where the kids gathered round to sing happy birthday - three times haha - and the parents got to stuff their faces with food. the food was nothing fancy, but it was catered to suit the kids (and whatever they eat, the adults can eat too lol). my kids are ridiculously picky-eaters, so i was kinda glad they were smitten with the sausages and nuggets. oohh and the birthday cake was lovely. there were like three different types of birthday cakes (one for each kid haha): chocolate, mango cheesecake, and victoria buttercake. the mango cheesecake was so ohsem, i ate the whole thing myself =P~~~~.

hantu nugget
awesome kid-friendly food!

oh and there was a quick photo session with the birds. each kid got to pose for a photo with the birds. i'd never thought Dayana would be brave enough to do something like that, especially since the birthday kids themselves were scared of the birds (and i was especially afraid of mascots when i was younger, remember that A&W Root Bear? -___-) but she was all up for it. you should've seen Dayana pose with the birds, complete with one on top of her head (haha!) *clap clap* she told me the birds were heavy, that's why she had to hold her arms up high macam strong woman. she received an awesome party pack, even i wished i had gotten one LOL.

and the best part was, even Dinara wanted to have a go at it *blink blink in disbelief*. i kept asking her 'are you sure? are you sure? cannot cry you know' and she kept nodding and said, 'nak macam kakak'. i didn't know whether she was excited for the birds or for the party pack, mommy pulak yang berdebar2 haha, i kid you not. but she didn't flinch one bit when they told her to hold up her arms for the birds to perch on. i haaad to laugh because she was so busy concentrating that she forgot to smile for the camera, HAHAHAHAHHAHA.

p/s. one of the birds pooped on one of the bird handler, yucks. told you they love to poop =P.

but i had a great time at the party, even the kids were happy too, although Dayana did ask me if she could go jalan2 lagi after that T_____T. thanks for inviting us =)

mister roti canai

came here last weekend with the elder two kids after swimming class. someone mentioned the roti canai here was very nice, worth a try. so after looking up the location on waze, off we went.

Mr. Roti Canai,
2, Jalan Putra Murni 3/2A,
47630 Subang Jaya, Selangor.

everything on the menu looked interesting. check out the different types of roti you could order.

muka sapa tu?

there were selections of nasi lemak and noodles to choose from as well, but let's just concentrate on the roti first, ok? (lol they're not called mr. roti canai for nothing lulz). i think their drinks were so-so. the teh ais was kinda bland. the service was ok, there weren't many people anyway. are they always like that? i'd categorize them at a higher level than your usual mamak, lol.

my kids were a roti fan,so they happily got their dose of roti canai + roti telur. and for something different, i tried the egg roll. Significant Other says it looked like a kebab -____-. when i was googling for the address i came upon someone's blog mentioning that the roti canai float was worth a try (and it also reminded me of roti dholl, the one roti we didn't get to try when were in Alor Setar last time lol) so i tapau-d that for Significant Other. the only roti canai in the menu that came with two soft boiled eggs. i'm not really a fan of soaking wet roti, but he said it was nice.

then he asked me, was that all? T______T what, you wanted me to tapau the whole menu back? haha.

i tried the egg roll.

missing in action

hola!

it's been awhile since i've written anything here. i bet nobody reads blogs anymore, nowadays everyone seems busier updating their instagram and posting nonsense on Facebook than socializing in real life haha.

anyway, when i manage to get my mojo back, i'll try and revive this page. i haven't been in the best of health lately, i've been more tired than usual and i've had too many things on my plate for the past couple of months.

someone has officially started work last week. he's already updated his 'Works At' description on fb. however in my opinion, he seems as if he's attending uni classes instead of 'working' - irregular hours, half days, off days... jealous lah. i oso wanttttttttttttt.

someone asked me what 'flight crew' meant. i was tempted to answer 'tukang sapu sampah kapal'. hahahahhahaha.

now... if only i looked as awesome as this bird... haha.
all dressed for winter too.

only we don't have snow, we've been experiencing heavy rain and the occasional flash floods T___T.

the long journey to Praha

so it's my turn to leave on a jet plane. i was lucky to have Miss Makeup and Mister Bus Driver send me off. the staff behind the check-in counter thought i was a foreigner (i should change citizenship to Thai haha).

FRA != France

it's my first time flying with Lufthansa, it was the cheapest flight i could find (second was Emirates but that would've cost a whopping 3k+). my first leg of the flight took almost 13 hours to reach Frankfurt. i had a two-hour transit before my next 1-hour flight out to my destination.

can i say that i prefer Oman Air over them? you'd think that for a long haul flight, they'd supply you with some sort of small toiletries bag to freshen up with during the flight. heck Oman Air did. even Significant Other got one from Etihad. Lufthansa? nada. just the normal pillow, blankie and headphones. fufufufufufu.

the food was... er, so-so. i'm not usually picky over airplane food (i look forward to them actually haha) but the food served on my flight... kinda sucked. they didn't even have some sort of menu to warn passengers of the food options they could choose from. i ended up with some weird dish which i forced myself to swallow because i did not wish to get gastric on the flight. breakfast was slightly better though.

A340-300 economy
the part i enjoy looking at whenever i fly long haul

i got a middle aisle seat so that i could happily get out to pee whenever i wanted (legroom in economy is so sempiitttttttt). i occupied my time by sleeping and watching two inflight movies, Bad Neighbors and The Fault In Our Stars. so ok i finally caught up with the tfios bandwagon, haha, but the movie didn't wow me that much. ironic that the two main characters also starred together in Divergent.

strangely, most of the passengers on the flight was Indonesian. i shared a whole row with them.

we were about a half hour behind schedule, because of high traffic during takeoff. and so i arrived at Terminal 1, Frankfurt around 7am or so. passport control lanes were congested with hoomans, you'd be surprised at how many flights get in so early in the morning. and then i had to find a toilet, haha. Frankfurt airport is HUGE. and when i say huge, i mean my transit gate was at the other end of the airport -_______- i had to go up and down a couple of levels, and go through this looOoOoOoong underground tunnel just to get there O_o.

the Lufthansa logo practically everywhere - on planes, buildings
a rare selfie, lousy lighting

we had to board a bus to take us to the A321 parked on the tarmac. you can see the Lufthansa logo practically everywhere left, right, and center (where are all the other planes??? hah). i got an aisle seat again, so no staring out the window for me :\. they served us this 2-in-1 plain yogurt + cereal for breakfast (which i found out later was available in abundance at their supermarkets).

so i landed in Terminal 2, Ruzyne Airport around 10am. unlike Significant Other i did NOT see that paradise sign. haha.

Ruzyne Airport, Terminal 2

and it was FREEZING, at 18 degrees Celsius (updated: ok i was exaggerating, biasa la minah tropics lolz. Prague when i arrived wasn't as cold as when i left it ok - which was around 10 degrees Celsuis? hahahaha). i still remember Significant Other's words to me: travel light, don't need to bring many winter clothes, tak sejuk mana pun, or something along the lines of that. ish. in August and September the weather was still ok laaa. but in October winter was approaching, and the temperature was slowly dropping too. thank God i didn't ditch all my turtlenecks, they really were a lifesaver. i guess that skirt and long dress i brought along were out of the question =P.

so... welcome to Praha! we're like 6 hours behind from Malaysia. excited? very. exhausted? extremely =D

i still babywear... occasionally

my rhubabe

i think she's about 11kg-ish? this wrap gives great support single layer. hmmm. maybe i'll hoard it. maybe not.
the youngest is eager to use her legs so not much wearing with her. i don't really mind.
it's really more of a hobby than an obsession.
if these wraps were wider, i'd have converted them into blankets by the time i'm done with them =P.

meanwhile... on a loom somewhere... this is currently being warped. my friend has such a good eye in colors. i'm colorblind, haha.

short snippets

Sophia counts:

while the elder two was brought up on Little Einsteins, Sesame Street and Dora (and as they got older, Hi-5 and My Little Pony), the youngest one was also exposed to Sesame Street, as well as Sofia the First (lol).

recently we've put on Disney Channel for her to watch (since the thumb drive keeps on playing the same thing over and over) and one of the daily current shows included Jake and the Neverland Pirates. i noticed that whenever the part where Jake counts his golden dubloons, Sophia would eagerly stare at the tv screen and count with them. 'sa! sa! sa! sa! sa! sa! sa! sa!' and then she'll look rather pleased with herself. hahaha.

i've got to get this on camera one day.

in Dayana's dictionary:

apple = fruit
strawberry = vegetable (now where on earth did she get that idea? -___-)
tomato = salad

bahahahahha i totally get that one. must be from watching Uncle Amal eating all that salads at home last time.

last weekend we dropped by AnW for a rootbeer, i overheard her telling her Atok that she went to the 'teddy bear shop' (no guesses as to where that is) to have a 'drink with the ice cream in it' T_T

brownie points for description though =P

Dinara oh Dinara:

she refuses to go to school until she gets a hug and kiss from bibik. she'll scream her head off until bibik helps her to put on her shoes, and will stand in front of the car door until bibik opens it for her (like a Boss, hmmmph). and then she'll put up a hissy fit if she doesn't get to close the door all by herself. 'I CLOSE THE DOOR!' she'd yell.

she also loves to ask, 'what about me?' in reference to comparing with her elder sister. talk about making a mom feel guilty. tsk. i have to buy things in twos now. just wait until the youngest pandai demand nanti -___-

my stuffed toy that i so cleverly named 'Giffy' (because he's a giraffe, obviously) was recently hijacked by Dinara and now she goes to sleep with it every night. she used to get hooked onto this Doll i randomly bought when she was younger until bibik hid it and eventually she forgot about it. out of all stuffed toys at home she chose MINE to hog, sigh. anyhow, ever since Giffy changed ownership, Dinara renamed him 'Dog', and then decided it looked more of a 'Goopy', and the most recent name of all, 'OWL'.

which part of Giffy makes him look like an OWL????

the 'H' trilogy

big fan of Kay Hooper i've been following the Bishop / Special Crimes Unit (SCU) Series since forever so imagine my surprise when Haunted was released a couple of days ago in hardcover and only then did i realize i missed out on two of the earlier books lol sent out an inquiry to MPH apparently both books were not in stock T_T

ok enough rambling along without a single fullstop... happy weekend everyone.

these days the number of people reading books has dropped because they're too busy wasting precious time online (kids on iPads, the 'adults' over social networks), preferring to troll for incredulous gossips that may or may not be true (burning food comes to mind), or to find some random subject to talk about just because it makes them feel good about themselves (the attention seekers).

it's a sad world =|

whatever happened to climbing trees or running around loose at the park? O_o

a cat's tale

meet Princess Sparkle. i call her Sparky for short.

Princess Sparky

her hobbies include eating, pooping, stretching,
and climbing onto dangerous ledges and showing off that she's able to do so
while we humans if attempting to do so might result in us toppling over onto the ground below.

we don't have 9 lives to begin with.
aaaand we don't have soft paws to land on.

this was taken this morning. buat apa ntah cik kiah sekoq tu. kalau jadi Mak Guard boleh la jugak kan, earn her keep.

spot the tikky

just wanted to show off this fluffy furball that is not mine.
so chomey!!!! tail macam feather duster! gerammmmmmmm.

last name Awang.

now these, however, are my cats:

cat #1, #2 and #3

they drive me up the wall but i love them to bits!

happy Wednesday everyone! everyone in the house seems to be coming down with the flu =(

August 21, 2014

up up and away...

so he finally got his confirmation, and he's flying off at three in the freaking morning.

checking-in

his flight duration is 23 hours, with two transits in between. mau tak mengamuk orang tua tu hahahhahahahhaha. his fellow comrade going with him happens to know my uncle Pak Long, what a small world. don't ask me how many times he packed and repacked his bags, if he had the option to bring the contents of the house with him, he would have.

transiting in Abu Dhabi

since it was past midnight that we left for the airport, the kids bid their goodbyes well before bedtime. i don't think they even know where Daddy was going. Dayana was like, "where's Cherry Barbie??".

his friends were awesome enough to come down the airport to send him off. all fellow pilots, they are. i pray they'll take to the skies soon.

a walk to remember bahahahhaha
the send-off team. thank guys
so he's back to being a student again

i found this photo in my inbox one day later...

this ain't Prague

ain't look nothing like a training center. a change of plan it seems..? (bak kata Hidayat).
HAHA.

and judging from the following photo, you'd think that there was nothing to eat over there.

babywearing made simple

remember that little photo shoot i attended at my friend Adrin's house a couple of months (or many months... i forgot haha) ago for her little book project?

a few days ago my friend Shasha texted me... apparently she came across the book at MPH Nu Sentral. she 'saw the cover, flipped inside and saw me' was her words. haha. she even sent me a photo. lol.

that's me! and Sophia =D
wrap: Jumpsacbaby

i haven't seen the book in real life yet... i went downstairs and asked MPH to look up the book for me... but they came up with zilch results T_T.
(either they got the title wrong or they were too lazy to look it up proper for me... oh well)

Babywearing Made Simple, by Adriana Thani

anyway, the book's out, titled Babywearing Made Simple, available at (most if not all, apparently) MPH bookstores. or you could get it online at a 15% discount. Adrin will be having a book launch soon for those who'd like to have their book signed - i know i want my copy signed by her =D.

perfect book for those who'd like to dip their toes into the waters of babywearing. nobody could've describe things better like Adrin can. that's her on the book cover, btw. except that now she sports a head full of blonde. lol.

now... to hunt for a copy of my own. tsk.

one for the team

big boss came down all the way from the States.
naturally, we had to take a group photo.
the theme: RED.
unfortunately one or two of them are color blind hahahahh
ok i kid. some didn't get the memo.
(except for that one person that insisted that pink is red =P)

anyhoo,
if you notice the team has expanded.
(i've lost count)
am not really sure if this is a permanent thing yet.
but in the meantime, we work with what we have.
because there's so many things to complete.

So is leaving! *sobs*

happy Wednesday everyone =)

more zat love

i was given the opportunity to try more zatgebos of a different kind: twill, and plain weave EC.
(thanks hani n ciayin)

Aneto Blue 4.3m $344
blue mercerized cotton weft
313 g/qm, 28 inches wide

zatgebo aneto
really dense of a wrap :O
new labeling
middle marker

Nebula
Egyptian Cotton Weft
(umm i don't have much details on this yet)

zatgebo nebula
much more softer in comparison

i didn't take a photo of the middle marker, but it's a weaved in thicker thread like my Reflections.

this has got to be my most favorite colored wrap, because of the pink n purple LOL.
aaand despite me hating dark colored wraps.
it's ridiculously soft too!
too bad the lengths about 3.55m. i can barely eek out an FWCC.

action shot in front of mucky mirror =P

wrap verdict:

1. i find Aneto to be very dense, i think my arms ached just trying to wrap with it (bahahahah). i think a ruck length would suit me better. i find twills differ from one wrap to another, so i can't simply assume that twill is thick.

2. love the Nebula colors, but it's abit too soft for my liking to use with my 8kg+ kiddo. i think i would prefer my Reflections better. Nebula would make a very good squishie wrap!

maybe i'll iso a plain weave one day. i've still got a few scratches to itch in the meantime.
=)
