cerita Emma and Sophia

Emma:

i tell you this girl absorbs words from her sisters like a sponge.

where are you?
 - lol this is new. i heard her awake in her crib one morning and purposely didn't go in to greet her. she then started calling out, "mamiiiiii??? where are you?" LOL LOL

ah happen?
- as in what happened? if the youtube channel suddenly stopped working, or something out of the ordinary happens.

where???
- with the palms up expression and everything. then pretend to look for that something. yo-yo je.

hug???
- requests this every single time, many many times sampai Mommy pun tak larat nak hug. hahaha.

papi
- recently she's calling her Trolls Papi, irregardless of whether it's Branch, DJ Suki or Guy Diamond.

nana
- what she calls them Yellow minions. haha. her grandma pun dia panggil Nana =D

ha-pa-dy!
- happy birthday to you =P

Sophia:
Pia has this morning mantra that she would go through every morning before i drop her off at school. without fail she will utter these few questions despite already knowing the answer:

1. what time is it?
2. where are you going?
3. hi-5!
4. cut my nails?

pinky pie

i was minding my own business at the dinner table earlier when she entered the dining room and headed towards me.
due to the bad lighting, it took me awhile for my brain to register that my daughter had been tinted PINK.

in color.

T_______T

my daughters get a little jakun when given a tube of lippie; i can guarantee you that the lippie will wear down to the very base within minutes. my kids have too much lip area to cover i guess that they have to keep reapplying every couple of minutes or so.

*rolls eyes*

somehow Sophia thought she might look even prettier if she smeared the lipstick on other parts of her body.
because it's pink, you know.
honestly, what girl doesn't like pink?
(most girls do, anyway)

face pink, neck pink, arms pink, hands pink, feet pink. ears also pink.

i almost burst out laughing just at the sight of her. you could say she got sun-burnt, and she probably looks like the long-lost cousin of Hellboy. the Uncle says she looks like a character from Guardians of the Galaxy.
whatever the case is, she'll be pink for the next couple of days, because the pink ain't coming off T____T.

i tried makeup remover, nope that didn't work either.

apparently, that is one heck of a stay-on lipstick. lolz.

aaaaaand being the bad Mommy that i am, i just had to get a couple of mugshots of her first. you know, just so that she can read this blogpost later when she's all grown up and will understand why her Mommy's hair turned grey so fast.

i even got her confession on video. trying to pin the blame on her elder sister, eh?
very sneaky!

mugshot taken
budak muka tak bersalah
even pinker in real life
perasan chomel lah tu.

oh i just had to upload this photo on the side, it's too cute =P
she's turning One soon, how time flies.

talk to the hand... and the double chin!

and more talking from Sophia

Sophia's current ramblings!

where u goin'?
- asked every single time i a) look overdressed, or b) if i happen to be carrying my bag, or c) if i'm heading out the front door. this is practically the most soklan kepochi asked by the three elder kids.

where get that?
- asked by her every time i'm holding an object, doesn't matter what it is.

what u doin'?
- if she doesn't ask the 'where' question first, then this will be asked when she's looking for people to bug.

can you susu?
- asked whenever she wants me to get milk for her. replace the word 'susu' with anything that she is requesting for.

mess!
- proudly tells me the room is in a messy state when all the kids' toys are strewn all over the floor T___T

owait?
- selagi u tak reply her with an 'owait', she will repeat this over and over again. sometimes i don't even know what i'm agreeing to.

ok?
- prior to saying 'owait', she will ask you this first.

tumpah!
-  another word she will proudly tell me whenever she spills something on the floor.

baby banana
- that's what she calls Emma.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

damage from the baby fair today. i was supposed to get only teats and diapers. but those outfits for Emms were too cute to resist! whoops. #splurgeforEmma

Sophia talks

Sophia's current vocabulary:

i donno

"Sophia, where are we going?"
"i dunno." with full conviction.

no

"Sophia, have you eaten?"
"no." shakes head.
"do you want to eat?"
"no." serious face.

gimme

this is whenever she wants something by force. with hand gestures.

look Mommy look Mommy

doing something that warrants my attention persistently especially when i am in the middle of concentrating on something else.

mine!

gile kuasa over there. especially when it comes to fighting with Dinara, and especially when being overly possessive over who gets to cuddle Emma.

ha'-ki

means: hug kiss. requested each time before going to sleep. when i mean sleep i mean finally spacing out after too much iPad at 3am T_T.

daina!

Dayana and Dinara are both labelled as this. lol

kakak nini

both bibiks have been christened this name. apparently the other bibik's name is hard to pronounce.

i remember me trying to teach her how to say her name (so-fee-ya) awhile back. later on whenever we say the word "so?" with Sophia in the vicinity, you could hear "so!" being echoed out of nowhere, haha. that's our little parrot.

so yesterday we tried asking her to repeat a few words after us. yesterday during our family outing at Pyramid i realized that she had trouble pronouncing 'balloon'. she loves balloons. she could spot on distances away.

(warming up with words that she knows how to pronounce).

"say shoe".
"shoe!"
"say bubble". (one of the first words she was able to say due to her fascination in them).
"bubbel!"
"say balloon".
"BA-MUM!"

whaaaa...? the elder two burst into fits of giggles.
after numerous tries, we still couldn't get her to pronounce balloon correctly.
balloon was still ba-mum.
oh well... maybe next time, lol.

let's bully Phia

the youngest one is getting cheekier and cheekier every day.

she's at the age where she's getting real good at expressing herself. like:

- she'll pull her sister's hair - mode geram haha
- insists that i rescue her from her jail cell every time i pass by
- and when i do pick her up and attempt to put her back down, she'd arch her back and squeeze her legs around me so that i'm forced to continue holding her hahahhahahaha
- finally knows how to use a handphone - she'd jab at the ipod screen and then hold it to her ear, haha
- pandai berebut vitagen with her elder sisters, haha
- "ppbbbbbbbbbbbbt"
- shakes her head sepenuh hati until she gets dizzy

(i still don't know why she can't do the twinkle twinkle hand gestures until now no matter how hard i try to teach her T_T)

well anyway, i purchased a couple of headscarves for the kids from Ladorn last week. my friend wanted to stalk a LovetoDress outfit at Modvier so while she was busy trying and deciding, i grabbed once each for the elder kids - a yellow and blue (because i was sick of the 'i wan pink one!' mandatory color haha).

bibik suka bully Sophia. my sister came by for the weekend and we were lepakking downstairs with the kids when this appeared at the doorway:

haha! a minion

omg cuteness overload, i almost didn't recognize her, chubbiness and all. sporting pulak cik kiah ni pakai tudung, haha. she kept running in and out of the room, occasionally letting out a 'ppppppppppppbbbbbbbbbbbbtttt' in an effort to mesh into the minion role.

luckily she ain't yellow, else she'd make a perfect minion, kekekekeke.

"pbbbbbbbbbbbbbbt"

bibik mau buli lagi, she had her wear Dinara's school backpack.
minions go to school too, you know.
at age of One, all set to go to school already. ish ish.

all set for school

L'adorn NADE EL LUNAXyra in Light Blue

this one is Mommy's doing, i bought a skirt for Dinara at the Vendeur Festival last weekend and slipped it on Pia, bahahhaha.

evening gown haha

Onulaa Julia Maxi Skirt

and yesterday since it was a holiday i took the kids and bibik to get their ears pierced. bibik wanted to pierce her ears and convinced Dinara to pierce hers as well. sampai meleleh air mata Dinara ok haha. i had to bribe her with a lollipop afterwards. Dayana had already gotten hers last year, tapi sibuks mau lollipop as well, chis.

after bibik's turn they asked me if i wanted to do the same for the baby. i didn't even know they could do so, since she was only a little after One year old. but i was like ok, why not? and up on the stool went baby. she cried all right - crocodile tears, hahahaha. chomel!

with short hair and earrings she reminds me of a junior gangster, bahahahahha.

=D

so how has puasa been treating you?

Sophia's thirteenth

#1
Sophia's latest update?

- she started walking in her 13th month! lol walk walk walk walk here walk walk walk walk there.

- she used to burst into tears at strangers for just staring at her, but now that she got legs, she's a 'see no touch' kind of person haha. walk walk walk among everyone like nobody's business, but this time if you stare at her, she won't cry - she'll simply turn around and walk away. lolz. just don't pick her up lah, that's all. you touch, she cries.

- she doesn't mind going out on outings now! in fact, menangis kene tinggal ade la -_-

- she's not afraid of cats! i only found out when she saw a cat one day and went closer to pull its tail and grab a handful of ears. geram kut tengok kucing. poor cat. i had to rescue it from Pia's reaching hands. hahahahaha.

cat not amused

- she likes observing. she'd sit and observe when her Daddy performs prayers. she'd observe diligently each time Dayana's uses the ipad (and that's how she learns that she needs to swipe the screen for something to happen :O), and yesterday she went to sit beside Dinara and listened to her mengaji. lol. banyak curious, this one.

alif. ba. ta.

- when we play 'Cak' with her, she'd go 'mmmmmm.... tak!' LOL.

- she got her hair cut by bibiks! nOOOoOOoOOoOOoOOOoOoOoO

sighs.

and for the other members of the family updates:

#2
someone got a new toy last weekend. toys like this will cause him to ignore food and sleep.

an apple

and like the book 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie', our version would be 'if you give Significant Other a Toy, he'll be on the hunt for suitable accessories next' =P.

he keeps calling it 'ohsem'. i for one have yet to see this awesomeness especially since i'm a mac noob and he only just joined the macbook bandwagon. my sister is a macbook user. in my time i had to lug around a fat heavy CPU to and fro campus, and i used to stay above G floor.

retina display

#3
i got the kids to watch My Little Pony recently (i got bored of them watching Dora, Sesame Street and Sophia the First -__-). i think sometimes the Daddy watches MLP too, he seems to know the names of the ponies better than i do, bahahah.

Mommy yang terlebih gedik to buy them toy ponies =P. but the kids enjoys them all the same. it's just a nightmare to take care of their hair though. tried brushing the tail out, big mistake.

there's Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle. i'm they're missing Rainbow Dash and Applejack. if you see any of those two being sold anywhere, could u let me know? they should cost about rm22.90 each.

my little ponies! experiencing bad hair day

see? cousins bonding over the ponies. hahaha. we had a small family gathering at my Uncle's house before the fasting month. Dinara even abandoned her Sofia toy for Fluttershy to join the gang. hehe.

happy birthday, Sophia

Tuesday marked Sophia's First Birthday!
we're definitely excited.
the celebrated? not caring in the least.
but she was all smiles the whole day =D.

then and now

we took her and the kids shopping for her birthday present!

the elder two got consolation prizes too.
sorang tu wanted angel wings. the other one didn't care, so long as it was PINK.
the birthday girl? didn't show a single interest in anything specific. haha.

although, i had to wonder, whose birthday are we celebrating again?
LOL.

she still allows me to wear her, so that's a good sign.
i tried gauging her weight based on (me+pia) - me = pia method.
she should weight about 7.9kg.
i find that heavy, just carrying her with my bare arms.
haha.

a little on the progress of the birthday girl:

her two top pearly whites are making an appearance now, woot woot.

kids at this age learn by observation. the proof? we batuk, she batuk.

me: *cough*
Pia: *cough*
Daddy: *cough cough*
Pia: *cough cough*
Daddy: *cough cough* *COUGH* *sputters*
Pia: tergamam sekejap. thinks Daddy's overdoing it

hahahahahaha.

she waves at you if you wave at her.
depending on her mood ok.

when we say 'cak!', she tries her best to imitate us, complete with the intonation.

she discovered the 'art' of expelling liquid from her bottle by turning it upside down and pressing on the teat.
i woke up one night drenched in water. and her water bottle?
empty T__T.

she sways violently from side to side whenever she hears music, haha!
i must catch this on video one day.

has huge stranger anxiety. seriously.

she finds blowing raspberries amusing.
especially when there's milk in her mouth -____-

happy Birthday Sophia! we love you!

April 15, 2014

Dira at 11 months old

Sophia turned 11 months old on Sunday. one more month until the big One! there's a whole lot of things she can do these days.

- she can wave at you
- she sways to the music whenever she watches her reruns of Sesame Street episodes
- she loves to stand on her own, possibly to show off her newly acquired skill.
- if you take her hand and guide her, she's able to take small steps all around the room, something that she enjoys doing.
- tried getting her to do the hand motions for Twinkle Twinkle little star, but all i get are blank stares from her.
- of all the toys she's been given lately, she'll always be fascinated by rattles.
- she adores her older sisters. very the eksaited whenever she sees them around (she always get abandoned, so kesian).
- she can't fit into the soft-soled walking shoes Dayana used to have. at her current age this third kid seems to be outgrowing her older sisters.
- she can whine!
- vainpot, she'll always smile at her reflection in the mirror and even kiss it haha

last Saturday while the husband had an event at Aviax, i took the kids to KizSports at the Main Place. this place is so new, they don't even have their banking services set up yet. parking is still free here.

i didn't really enjoy the playgym here, there were not many play choices for the less-adventurous kids like Dinara. also, i'd be happier if the babies section was larger for them to move about on their own freely without having to worry about being knocked over. having one ball pool didn't really cut it for me. babies love to crawl, but there wasn't much space for them to do so, especially with the older and bigger kids running all over the grounds without even watching where they were going.

anyway, all aside, the kids had fun. this was Sophia's first time at the gym. apparently she didn't really fancy the ball pool much, she preferred crawling on the floor, leaving her socks behind in the process T____T *note to self: find better-fitting pair of socks for Pia.

dumped into the ball pool
figuring out what the ball tasted like
trying out the slide for the first time haha

the elder found their own way around the playgym, with the exception of Dinara who most of the time kept close to her younger sister because she was afraid of getting on the gigantic slides on her own.

cheeky monster

see my eldest trying her hand at wall climbing *you see that Pakcik??? lepas ni boleh bawak Dayana pi climb skalik hahahhaha*

she climbed up all by herself

priceless facial expression of Pia enjoying the empty ribena box haha

before heading home, we stopped for some ice-cream at The Cream & Fudge factory (mainly because i didn't want to make a pit stop at Toys R Us!). each kid chose 1 flavor each: chocolate and bubblegum (for the pink lover, no guess as to which kid chose that flavor).
omg, the pink flavor tasted exactly like those Bubble Yum chewing gum i used to like when i was younger *pink overdose for me*. Dayana didn't like the pink taste, hahahah.

and the youngest? safely asleep in my trusty ring sling after crawling hard =D.

the husband certainly has been busy the past couple of weeks. oh look, the husband has fans now, lol.

January 18, 2014

piercing post

and you still can't see her tooth

Sophia cut her first tooth at around 8 months old, which is wayy earlier than her older two sisters, who celebrated their first birthday toothless. so far only one tooth has popped up. some people say these teeth usually come in twos, but i dunno. tried to get the little one to open up but she refused. you can only glimpse her pearly white whenever she cries in mock protest. the only other way is that you stick a finger in her mouth and hope she doesn't clamp her gums onto it. hahah.

post-ear piercing

Dayana finally got her ears pierced. she's been wanting to do so since forever but Mommy kept procrastinating because she didn't know where to get them pierced. when asking around, i even made a bm-fail statement:

'kat mana nak tebuk telinga kat area xxxxxx?'

hebat BM i. sigh.

one day my friend told me i could get her ears pierced at the jewellers at pkns so i brought Dayana there on Saturday evening when Daddy and Dinara was sleeping (i wanted to bring Dinara too but since she was sleeping... too bad next time then).

when i asked Dayana again if she still wanted to to pierce her ears, she enthusiastically said yes, so i told her 'sakit kejap je, lepas tu tak sakit dah, ok?'. dia pun ok. i told her we'd go to Old mcDonald if she was a good girl.

it cost me rm24 to get her ears pierced. i let her choose the studs, she chose the round ones with white diamonds, because i told her the silver heart ones (her initial choice) were too small you couldn't even see that it's a heart =P. she didn't even cry when the lady pierced one ear, and then the other. but she was very very very very quiet throughout. control macho kut, hehe. so far, no infections, no continuous pain and so forth.

her new studs!

but she did worry about her ears that first night, she asked about how she was gonna sleep during the night, what if she squished her ears if she slept on her side? i gave her one of those U-shaped pillows that people bring with them onto flights and told her to set her head in between so that her head wouldn't move left and right. HAHAHA.

i jokingly told her that if her ears still hurt the next day, she had to stop eating chicken and eggs for awhile until her ears healed completely. i thought she wasn't really listening to me when i said that but when we were at mcD later i asked her if she wanted a chicken burger, she said 'tapi mami tadi cakap tak boleh makan chicken?' haha =P so she does listen to me even when she looks like she's not!

December 13, 2013

Sophia's seventh month

what i came across on BabyCenter Baby Bulletin. whoops. never intended to increase the odds of having you end up in a class with 3 other Sophia's in the future =P.

Sophia Poppiah

my Sophia turns 7 months today!

she spent the wee hours of the morning keeping me awake with her baby talk.
'ata' 'ata' she'd go.
we think she listens to Dinara's requests of 'nak atas' (nak go upstairs) every time we ground the kids downstairs.
been trying to teach her to say 'mommy!' but to no avail.
you know what she said instead?
'dada'. CHIS.
i lost the mommy/daddy fight with the other two kids, i must not lose with this one =P

she can pull herself up onto her unsteady little feet now.
she expresses her dissatisfaction whenever she's abandoned in her 'cell' with nobody to play with. she has this muka tak puas hati expression she'd pull whenever that happens, LOL.
the chubbiest among the three.
fits her 6-9 months clothing well.
still toothless =P
easily distracted during breastfeeding. has no preference between formula or breast milk. i just hope she doesn't reject me as early as the other two.

=)

this morning's breakfast. yumm.

oh yeah, our shipment from London arrived earlier this week after a 2-month wait, which mainly comprised of the children's clothing and other odds and ends we ended up shipping back because of our luggage weight limit. most of the clothes we bought for the kids were still too big even after buying according to age recommendation. and i finally have my own 'exercise shoe' Significant Other bought for me from a factory outlet there. i had zilch sports shoes ever since the only pair i had died out on me / makan diri lol. on its defense, i've owned that pair of shoes since forever, hee~. imagine, i wore my jelly bunnies to my company's Sports Day last time T___T.

dual fusion. my first ever FINK shoe

also, meet farideh afterglow =D i really wished this was TWILL!

December 3, 2013

my future pilot

while i was away for my company dinner with the eldest, the youngest was busy accompanying the Daddy studying.

ok well not really studying, she's at the stage where she'd hang on to something - ANYTHING - and try to pull herself up, including clinging to her sisters' hair. HAHA. the thing is, she'd pull herself up to her knees, and then stay stuck in that position until someone rescues her =P. the thing is, she can't even sit up properly yet T_T. she tried pulling herself up using an unstable box and ended up toppling over once -___-.

see? like this.
sorry, i can't sit upright on my own yet

she has obviously gotten the crawling stage down pat. sometimes she'd just lay on her tummy and lift her arms and legs in the air - imagine a sky diver falling out of the sky, lol (or you could imagine an overturned turtle, whichever works for you). i have no idea why she does that though. stretching perhaps?

did i tell you she makes the perfect zombie extra for the Walking Dead? sometimes when she babbles in her own cheeky language, she'll make the exact growling sound a zombie does when they're after something - blearggggggggghhhh, or something like that. it's also a cross between those purple minions in Despicable Me 2, but she sounds more like a zombie to me. it's too funny i always forget to record her on video. i think someone's been eavesdropping when Daddy watches the Walking Dead. haha.

anyway back to the story, she found a new victim that night, smack right in the middle of the floor - the perfect victim to clamber onto and sabotage. but in the end she became Daddy's study assistant and helped him study his Physics (or was it Air Dynamics? no idea). i think she found the book to be much more interesting than her toys and rattles.

*climb climb climb* oh hey, i know that diagram
like this Daddy, i teach you
my favorite part of the book - all words!
still poring over the book like nobody's business

so. can i label her as future pilot? or perhaps, future wall-climbing pilot? =D oh yeah yesterday she was in a good mood to be back carried. how i love these colors on her. i think green suits her better more than me.

willing wearee!

Significant Other attended a maswings assessment last weekend. that's why Dira volunteered to help Daddy study. i dropped him off at MAS Academy at the wee hours of the morning and i could not believe the number of people attending the assessment. kalah pc fair, he says. about 400+ people were present. and then he started ranting about how the odds aren't in his favor, lol belum cuba sudah admit defeat T___T.

anyway despite being 'older and greyer' than the others he beat the odds and managed to make it to the top 18 to move on to the next stage: the interview. ok hor? =D. goes to show that you really shouldn't shoot yourself down before you try, because you never know... anyway. cross fingers and toes and nose hair that he made an impression to get to the final stage. but that's already an accomplishment on it's own for him, don't you think? =D
