aunty Musalma would be smacking her forehead right about now should she read what i just wrote. oops.

but i still enjoyed playing, assuming the music notes were in front of me (i wish i had Gesty's talent!). and that's why i joined gamelan during my uni years - they didn't have the orchestra back then, so gamelan was the next best thing. my friends used to be amazed at how i was able to play the music without the notes. every note on the instruments were numbered; you just needed to remember which ones to hit. lol

5 - 5 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 5 (inside joke bersama mama Ju)

anywayyy, my daughter came home with very atrocious marks for her Music paper recently. i was totally horrified when she texted her marks to me. and when i got to hold the paper in my hands, my eyes almost popped out of their sockets; i actually wanted to laugh just looking at the subjective part of her paper - she totally bombed on the scales and triads. since when was music complicated like History?! however, i didn't learn music in malay, mind you (i was on the ABRSM curriculum), so her paper was practically foreign language to me. the whole paper was in Malay! and it seemed that my daughter does not have the gift of 'ting tiong tiang', haha (i used to know people who hentam the answers to their objective papers yet still managed to get a decent score). i can go on and on on how appalled/mystified/baffled/confounded i am at the results of her music paper... but oh well, pasrah je lah.

that's it. i'm going to enroll one of my kids in music class after thisssss.

for reference (because my brain has gone all rustic on music theory), here are some of the notes i have managed to scrape together with regards to the questions in her exam paper.

Piano Scales that need to be remembered:

C Major

F Major: B♭

D Minor: B♭

G Major: F#

A Minor: G#

E Minor: F#

D Major: F#, C#

Relative Minor: take the 6th note from the scale, e.g

relative minor for C Major: A Minor

relative minor for G Major: E Minor

Relative Major: take the 3rd note from the scale, e.g

relative major for A Minor: C Major

relative major for E Minor: G Major

Scale Degree Notes (To See More Sheep Don't Say Lunch)

1 - tonic

2 - supertonic

3 - mediant

4 - subdominant

5 - dominant

6 - submediant

7 - leading note

Formula of the Major scale: T T S T T T S

T - tone

S - semitone

i could go on about the harmonic and melodic minor scale (which i'm still confused about), but then i'd be crying blood tears at how much i just realized i've forgotten the theory of music. it's been a while since i've rambled on random subjects, and this is one of those posts. so if you managed to read my post until this line, i apologize because think i kinda wasted your time reading all this crap i wrote, haha.

did you know i wanted to learn the violin? i did. i almost purchased a violin back when i was in uni, but i didn't; i don't really remember why. i'm now worried my kids will end up tone deaf like the husband, haha.
E`n1xhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03984732278723446403noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3598131977493265088.post-63148348563088744272021-08-24T19:29:00.015+08:002021-08-24T22:52:53.707+08:00badan beruniform, sukan dan kelab
why i think the way schools handle KOKURIKULUM - Badan Beruniform, Sukan/Permainan & Kelab/Persatuan suck big time.

in one of the many messaging groups i am in, i came across a parent's inquiry on how do students get sorted into extra-curriculum activities for schools..

mudahkan urusan guru, tapi anak-anak terus ditentukan tanpa pilihan anak-anak sendiri."

sad to say, my kids have this problem too. the school gives out a list of all available clubs, badan beruniform and sports but when students don't get into the clubs that they want to join - with the school's excuse that their chosen clubs are full - they're forced to join clubs that are of little interest to them.

first of all, these kids should be allowed to join clubs that they are interested in, isn't that the whole point of joining them in the first place?

i still remember the day my daughter told me that she was supposed to sign up for extra-curriculum. she was interested in joining the cooking club; she used to tell me she wanted to be a chef one day (not to be a wet rag, but i don't think that ambition of hers will last, but at least she had ambition, yes? =D). anyway, on the day they were supposed to choose, she called later to tell me she didn't get to join any of the clubs and badan beruniform that she initially wanted.

just imagine, there were about 150 students in Form 1 who wanted to register for extra-curriculum activities for the first time, so what are the odds that most of them would want to join the same club?

- the Cooking Club apparently had limited spots available, so of course my daughter didn't get to join. she tried for English next, but that one was full too. finally decided to join BM just because that club wasn't full yet;

- Tunas Puteri / Puteri Islam was filling up fast too, but they prioritized students that already bought the uniform, as well as former members, so she was pushed aside and had to settle for TKRS;

- Badminton was the only one she chose and managed to get in. haha.

just so you know, these days she's slowly starting to lose interest in the kitchen, which is a bit saddening to me. i wonder if she did happen to get into the club she wanted, she'd still offer to help me out in the kitchen once in a while. i may just never find out. drama kan. haha.

she sends her younger sister to help me instead. CHIS.

i haven't even begin to elaborate on student favoritism. and let's not start on situations where the student was one of the earliest to sign up for her preferred club, but was transferred into another club instead because there weren't enough people in the other clubs (they supposedly had to even out the quota). ironically, a friend of hers signed up much later but managed to get into the club, so where's the fairness in that?

and why do you even limit the number of students in one club anyway? nak jaga quota la konon. it's a free country, what's wrong with letting them belong in a club they enjoy and actually want to be in, apa susah? imagine you have a judo club with only 3 members. takkan la you nak force students into the club just for the sake of evening out the quota? well okay, statistically 2 or 3 students might get smitten by judo, but what about the others? then what? be stuck in a club they're not interested in until they graduate? kids can try something and not like it the same way adults do.

the excuse "kita nak beri pendedahan semua jenis sukan kepada murid-murid" defeats the purpose of allowing the students to choose in the first place. you might as well just decide for them who gets into what, am i right? tak payah bagi harapan palsu kat students if you won't even let them join the clubs of their liking.

another daughter of mine was put into chess club (i have no idea how she winded up in that club haha) but until today she has no idea how to play chess T___T. tu pun satu. isn't the club supposed to teach her how? i'm sorry, but why again do we have clubs and persatuan if she has no idea what she's doing in the club in the first place? pendedahan, what?

you can't force hobbies / interests onto kids. you can introduce them to, sure. but that's not the reason schools have all these curriculum in the first place, yes? you join clubs to gain knowledge, skills and experience in regards to the club of choice. and it's also the best way to expand your circle of friends. these school clubs are supposed to be fun and exciting for the students, BUT when they get thrown into random clubs to 'even out the clubs' member count (which is such a lame excuse, mind you), you're just simply forcing a kid to do something they have very little interest in and suck all the fun out of it. and that's just sad.

i don't think i'm the only parent that feels this way, but nothing much can be done about the system anyway. now that everyone's stuck at home and everything is conducted online, i can't fathom why they don't just let students join anything they want to. i'd want to leave school with happy memories, and extra-curriculum is an important aspect to make that happen, trust me.
E`n1xhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03984732278723446403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3598131977493265088.post-83747547256577924132020-12-08T22:56:00.007+08:002020-12-08T23:15:27.790+08:00plants and rocks

the solar system : i've never really bothered to know much about this subject mainly because i didn't have to take Science for UPSR. back then subject was called 'Alam dan Manusia'; that's how old i am. the closest thing i knew about planets back then was when my classes were named after planets. i was a Musytarian since Standard One until Four (or was it Three? i forgot already), then i got bumped into Zuhal for the remaining years.

yup, that's all i know. hahaha. until recently when my kids need to learn about planets in school. during my days Pluto was still considered a part of the solar system (and also shares a name with Mickey Mouse's loyal pet dog), until it got downgraded into a dwarf planet in 2006. it still feels weird to know that there's only eight planets in the solar system; my mindset still has it set to nine. haha.

and i learnt all my subjects in school in Malay (ami-laa-se liur, bahahhahahahha), so for the life of me i keep forgetting their translated names correctly. i mean like how on earth did Jupiter get translated into Musytari???

so i got to learn that my daughter has a formula to remember the names of the planets in order:

"My Very Educated Mommy Just Served Us Noodles".

LOL LOL.

My - Mercury / Utarid

Very - Venus / Zuhrah (the hottest planet)

Educated - Earth / Bumi

Mommy - Mars / Marikh

Just - Jupiter / Musytari (the biggest planet)

Served - Saturn / Zuhal (planet with the most rings)

Us - Uranus / Uranus

Noodles - Neptune / Neptun

<strike>Potatoes - Pluto</strike>

pretty cool huh. my Standard One kid has already memorized it. but for a very educated Mother, why does she serve noodles? i'd have chosen Nutella. or Nachos. or Nuggets, my kids absolutely love those hahahhahaha

now moving on to... rocks!

ok now this one i seriously don't even remember learning about it, unless you have a genuine interest in the subject. kids these days have it easy, everything you can just Google. our version of Google was to ask our Mom or Dad, or take a trip to the local library, assuming they have books related to whatever it is you are looking up on. and then head to the foodcourt to eat mee ayam because you're hungry. and then find a public phone afterwards to call your mom to pick you up, because you haven't figured out how the bus system works.

anyway, i googled those rock terms, just because one of my daughter's questions in her Science paper asked about the rock sequence as it enters the earth's atmosphere. and the terms all sound so similar to each other, it's like Molly Bolly Jolly, so who comes first? haha.

but first let's define the terms.

Asteroid

a small rocky body orbiting the sun. large numbers of these are found between orbits of Mars and Jupiter <- this i also did not know. another one of the questions asked in my daughter's paper. she can consider a career as an astronomer after this.

Meteoroid

a small rocky or metallic body in outer space. meteoroids are significantly smaller than asteroids, and ranges in size.

Meteor

when meteoroids enter the Earth's atmosphere (or that of another planet) at high speed and burn up, the fireballs or shooting stars are called Meteors.

Meteorite

when a meteoroid survives a trip through the atmosphere and hits the ground, it's called a Meteorite.

i'm guessing this is what you call those solid rocks that people see on displays in museums, no?

here's a very good video to differentiate everything:

ok i'm done rambling about this subject. my kids have learnt the existence of this blog so they find it amusing to read my ramblings, especially when most of my older posts are about them. LOL

today's my anniversary, and here i am wiriting about planets and finishing up my pending test documents yg never ending T_T.
E`n1xhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03984732278723446403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3598131977493265088.post-39532084500834650142020-11-24T02:10:00.024+08:002022-01-03T19:49:38.326+08:00my birthday surprise
remember the birthday prank i played on my deskmate earlier this year? well my friends decided to continue the tradition even though we're in lockdown and stuck working from home.

their initial plan was to sabotage my car, or something like that. but nah, that ain't happening, office tutup. lucky for me, too bad for them.

BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

that kayangan cloth that advocates microfiber + water.
no, i'm not selling. just wanna jot down my opinion on this cloth because i too, am in search of the perfect absorbent microfiber cloth.
most of the cloths i randomly buy in stores just doesn't do the job.

i purchased my first set from a fellow Kedahan of mine, mainly because she was one of the few people i've seen posting about this cloth on instagram (now practically everyone is selling Norwex) and her postings didn't annoy me so much unlike some others (LOL) because she focuses her posts on the cloths capability rather than 'come join me', iykwim.

my first norwex purchase

i got the:

- Envirocloth in Graphite

- Window cloth in Purple (hidden between the envirocloth in the photo LOL)

- Kitchen cloth in Charcoal

these cloths i purchased to be solely used by me, of course =P

the first thing i did (to test out the cloth) was to wipe all the TV screens downstairs (there's two in case you start to wonder, cakap kemain mcm ade 10 bijik kekekkeke). first wipe with a damp Enviro, then finish to shine with the Window cloth, my friend advises me.

for a first impression - ok la, not bad. didn't have to use any of those LCD spray cleaners and yet managed to get rid of those pesky fingerprints. the screen didn't end up with more scratches either. the Envirocloth is more of a multipurpose cloth. it is made super-dense so it can be used to absorb more liquid, can effectively pick up dirt and clean larger messes effectively. i won't go into the specifics, for that you go find a Norwex consultant, k.

i don't really know how to use the Window cloth on its own; i kinda prefer to pair it with the Enviro to get that satisfactory sparkle. i haven't tried it on windows or mirrors yet, my room is currently 'under construction', i'm waiting for someone to service (clean?) my bed before i clean the whole room. my closet mirrors need sental-ling, yo. my friend swears on it for all the glass surfaces in the house - super fingerprint eliminator and unwanted streaks.

what i couldn't do was to remove a small stain on one of my older bags; i saw someone's testimonial that they only needed the Enviro to restore a bag to look almost new. i think it depends on what type of stain it is and how long the stain is as well. the longer the stain, the more effort needed to get rid of. no kidding - sometimes i penat tengok orang menyental in their videos hahahhahaha. you could get their cleaning paste, dubbed as elbow grease, to help remove those tougher stains. so don't really expect magic from this cloth k. they don't disinfect surfaces, they don't disinfect themselves after.

remember those Axion tv advertisements a long time ago? in the advert, u just need to touch the cloth to the plate and wallah, terus shiny. well, that ain't happening here, woman. hahahahahhahahah

now the kitchen cloth, oh gosh, how i love! it's thinner than the Enviro, because i think it's supposed to easily absorb grease and grime in the kitchen, and in turn makes it easier for you to clean the cloth afterwards. i use mine daily to clean my oily stove - other cloths just seem to smear the grime all over, not to mention the watermarks it leaves after it dries. with the kitchen cloth, i don't even need to use soap, only water. i practically use it to wipe most of the surfaces and appliances in the kitchen. i have yet to try to sental my cooking hood (you know how icky and grimy a cooking hood can get); my friend has tried already, the cloth works wonders ok. oh and you can use them to dry your dishes too, up to you =D

i love wiping my hands on it as well, but mcm too kayangan to just dry hands, don't you think? LOL so... i got myself some cheap Ikea cloths to wipe my hands on.

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oneXrVChM70/X7Cs5b8xNnI/AAAAAAAAMl8/O_1yQ_wIXkYpATe_tmddjBiDQO-AQfd7gCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/IMG_2533.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; i saw people using it to lapik fried food to absorb oil. word of caution - never put fried food directly from pan onto the cloth ya. someone said her cloth kinda melted due to the hot oil... yikes. you can try it for yourself if you wanna see if that's true or not. or you can get your agent to test it out for the sake of testimonial purposes, jahahahha. you can also use them to keep your fruits and vegetables fresh in the fridge, but i have yet to try that out. so many veggies, only three cloths, how lar.

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; i don't). i'd usually put them directly onto a plate and serve but this time i moved it onto the cloth AFTER the potatoes had cooled down abit. the husband says it tasted much better than before because of that oil-absorbent cloth, but he always terpedaya liddat (like for example he takes a supplement for the first time then terus rasa sihat. hahahah. itu semua mentality ok hahahahhahahah).

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; where's the business opportunity in that for Norwex? BUT i reckon it will be longer though. MCO started out the same way too; they told us to stay home for 2 weeks, which ended up being > 3 months. my terrarium i left in the office R.I.P. because of that. haha.

because of this, today marks our last working day at Bangsar South office. personally i'd have chosen to continue working at this office since everything was easily accessible here, plus Operations are still based in BS (until Cyber's IT infrastucture is ready) but 16th was the last day our parking pass was valid for, so nak tak nak we had to pack up and go.

i will miss you Ah Hock (milo panas cawan besar), myNews downstairs, SanFran's coffee offers (even though i don't drink coffee haha), Ayam Penyet, Tomyam, Nasi Kukus (also known as kedai kaki ayam Rina) at Bumbung Biru, the Curry Laksa at Nyonya (they don't have any outlets nearer to me, chis) and fragrant Flower Tea at Amber, to name a few things on the top of my head that i know i would miss.

(as i'm writing this, i am hungry, can you tell?)

at the new office, you have to literally go out to find decent food if you don't want to order food delivery service. and the new office is adopting an open seating work situation, where you no longer have a permanent desk to dump all your things - tissue box, mirror, stationeries, personal supplies, etc. save for a small cubicle to chuck your stuff. where am i going to keep my extra monitor like this? nanti orang curikkkkkk :O since CMCO happened and everyone is forced to stay home and i have yet to step foot into the new office, my office stuff are strewn all over the house. hahahahaha.

in light of everything happening, we took the opportunity to celebrate our last few weeks in BS - eat, shop, and camwhoring. not to forget plant-poaching *ahem*, but let's not elaborate on that, shall we? =P

<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto;
we've known him way back during his and the husband's pre-flying days when they were both working at Aviax. Fikri had another friend working together with them, Danial who we always thought (and joked) that they were gonna be inseparable forever, haha. those were the days when they were all still single and available. Aviax is l.e.g.e.n.d, yo. heck, two friends of mine found their husband / wife whilst working there *ahem to bini geng AA*, how ohsem is that, lol.

well anyway, they chose Forest Valley Hall in Cheras as their wedding venue, and i must say it's quite a distance from our place, but the place seemed relatively new, and gorgeous too. boasting of a garden wedding concept, there were lots of windows and everything was bright, airy and sunny, so the space seemed much larger than it already was. the only downside was the roads were untarred, so good luck to your vehicle, hahahahha.

see? even the road is 'Unnamed'. hehe.

the bride, i first met during our flight back from Perth last year (oh i miss air travel, doesn't everyone?). her facial features are so exotic-looking. she made a gorgeous bride that day. and Fikri cleaned up good too for the wedding, check out his 'wolverine look', hahahha. if you have the time to hang out with them one day, ask them about the first time they met. =)

it's been awhile since i dressed up, covid has gotten everyone stuck at home with nowhere to go, you can't believe how much i've saved for not having to replenish my facial supplies =P. i brought my younger two kids with me, i'm not sure why they enjoy weddings, probably because they've been cooped up so long indoors they were happy to go anywhere, even if it means to the kedai runcit a few meters away from home.

in this post i'm going to reference 'maggi' as 'ramen', since it sounds much more healthier, and i'm trying to make myself feel less guilty for feeding my kids instant noodles, hahahahha.

i call this dish 'Luxury Ramen' inspired by a friend of mine in instagram =D

to make the soup, tumis:
- bawang merah
- cili boh
- kiub ayam
- u can add in the perencah that came with the maggi, but i only used half out of the three packets

then add water, wait for it to boil.
add kimchi if you have it, kalau nak fefeeling ala2 Korea. #eh

meanwhile, get the kids to chop up whatever it is you want to add into the ramen.
since my kids are such picky eaters, and i had limited amount of stuff in the fridge (a trip to the supermarket is about due), i added in the following:

- sayur pakchoy, hiris senipis yang mungkin, else they will struggle kutip satu2 letak tepi
- sausages
- crab sticks

susun all the ingredients cantik2 in the pot, with the ramen in the middle. i used 3 packets, because pot tak muat =D

once the soup starts boiling, pour onto the ramen and continue to cook everything in the pot.

poured the soup into the pot

add in the eggs and leave it in for as long as you want (but make sure you don't overcook the ramen).

LOL

i reckon that if you don't trawl other people's instastories, you wouldn't get yourself terjebak into all this stuff, like seriously. at this point it's a good time to temporarily unfollow all accounts that you think will drain your bank account, hee~

so one day i came across this person's instatory and i thought, wah cantiknya susun2 kasut macam tu! with a house full of so many people, you can just imagine how many pairs of shoes are lying around the house, you can't even keep track of how many shoes you own OR you're not even sure which shoe is still being worn and by whom (ni dasar tak reti nak buang kasut2 yg dah lama atau tak muat dah hahahahaha). the only shoe closet i have is the old opaque traditional one and once a shoe goes inside that closet, it's goodbye shoe - there's a high chance i might forget that you're in there kinda thing, you know? T__T we also have the shoe rack+bench from ikea, but i notice shoes tend to accumulate dust in the open air, not to mention the limited amount of shoes you can actually pile on the rack. NOT TO MENTION when your kids start to get territorial and starts declaring 'hey that's my spot!' the same way they fight to declare their 'spot' in the Vellfire. or fight over what car pillow they get, when the only difference between the pillows is the freaking COLOR *rolls eyes*.

stackable shoe boxes! wheeeeee

anyway. she even shared the link of where she purchased the shoe boxes - on Shoppee, where else? i could already imagine myself organizing shoes during this undefined period of social distancing, hahahahaha. so i found a store that sold them in a set of 6, ready stock in Malaysia. i purchased it in 4 colors (except for white because it's too mainstream =P).

product size: 33.5 * 23.5 * 13 cm

i didn't imagine it to arrive looking like this. i was like, can this really be assembled and stacked together to look like the storage boxes in the above photo? *skeptic* it arrived on a Sunday merely wrapped in bubble wrap. i was lucky it arrived in one piece with nothing broken. i read reviews that some arrived with broken covers.

pink, blue, green, purple

the only challenge i faced during assembly was to attach the cover lid of the shoe box. took me quite awhile to figure out the mechanism too, haha. i read reviews that other people also faced the same challenge of assembling that last part. it didn't come with any instructions; i suppose they assume that even monkeys can assemble this, that's how easy it should be. no matter how hard i tried to put on the lid, it never managed to stick on properly. you had no idea how much i was cursing just to connect the lid ok. siap give up try the next day LOL.

oh the challenge to assembling this part

luckily one buyer had the bright idea to mention that you could look it up on youtube. it only dawned on me that that tiny foldable part had to be pushed down ALL THE WAY in order for the frame to stick on properly - the keyword in the youtube clip was 'until you hear a click' wahahahhahahahah adehhh *smacks forehead* right after that i tried again (i really did hear a click) and wallah.... it stuck!

now to figure out where to stack these boxes in the house. and to figure out how many pairs of shoes exist in the house. haha.

updated: decided to letak sini dulu (as per photo). you can actually connect them so that they stick together, very the ingenious. i threw out a bunch of shoe boxes in the process. kon mari much?
was i disappointed? i guess so. the decision to go on this trip was kind of last minute (with alot of dugaan in between), but i had already prepared myself mentally for this journey... only to be unable to go due to the coronavirus. Allah is the best of planners, so i guess ade hikmah disebalik this trial He has brought unto us.

on another note, i totally recommend these two books for light-reading. purchased them on Shoppee, but they only arrived the day i was supposed to fly wahahahahahhaha.

Amber Chinese Muslim Restaurant,
Nexus @ Bangsar South

Amber's the best place in our area for mee tarik. we decided to celebrate our 'low-profile' colleague's birthday here. lama oh tak pigi! this place is perfect if you plan to makan hidang ramai2, because the portions are huge. unless you just want a bowl of noodle soup, then the portion is just enough for one person. i like my mee tarik of course. but i wish they hadn't gone over the top with the dedaun hijau, jenuh i nak kutip satu2 =P (like mother like daughter hahahahah).

me asks Deskmate: eh semalam utk lunch i makan apa eh?
Deskmate: *smacks forehead*

bahahaha. don't play2. every single word from my mouth will be ungkited and used as ammo against me later T__T

(if i asked Lina, she'd probably demand RM5 per question hahahah)

i've realized that the lesser i write in English, the rustier my command of the language, serious. i also haven't been reading as much as i should, despite having a few books lined up at home - Kay Hooper, Sophie Kinsella, to name a few. the ig is a real blog killer - i've been posting more on ig rather than on my blog, so i apologize for the rare updates. my friend has even closed down her ig to spend more time on her blog, how awesome is that.

well anyway, let's see. a whole year of 2019 has passed in a blink of an eye, my maid keeps reminding me how fast time flies, as if i didn't realize that already. almost two years have passed since i first started working at the company, i'm due to be expired in about two weeks, and what the heck am i going to fill up in my kpi form this year? haizzz. thanks to the Boss' insistence, i'm now CTAL certified. at least that's one thing i can say if he asks me about my achievement for this year, LOL

i've had a whole year of ups and downs, with my car taking the cake - emptying my purse like water mengalahkan all the water cuts that occured in Selangor this year alone, hahahahhah. 9 more months to go, the car you love to hate and hate to love, that car will be fully paid for, whoopee. i've no plans for a new car, that allocation's going to the Pilot next year. this year, the only 'vehicle' we bought is a Mobot, ever heard of it? the kids are really enjoying being the pillion rider. let's see if the Pilot's going to use it for Friday prayers as originally intended, hahahahhaha.

in terms of travelling, i didn't really get to do much jet-setting this year, the Pilot's been more busier on the ground than in the air. i went to London before puasa to visit the fil, he hasn't been well the whole year and the kids miss him terribly. i've already forgotten the scent of the aircraft cabin =D but i've made more gorgeous friends in the aviation sector this year, let's hope i get to see them onboard sometime.

on a more personal note, be careful for what you wish for because i permanently gained a few kgs this year and am unable to shed them as easily as i hoped i could. people have noticed and have complimented on how i've gained, i look much better than the skeleton that i used to be, but i don't like how my face looks like a round plate in photos (hi nana pinggan!) and how i'm unable to fit into most of my existing outfits T___T. i need to come with terms that i'm no longer a default XS, hahahhaha. buying a whole new wardrobe is not an option, so i'm gonna have to start getting into shape before i automatically turn into a full fledged dumpling. my last jog was in August ok, bahahahhaha. i keep saying i should drag my eldest along for excursions because even she complains that she's tired all day - mana taknya asyik duduk depan computer je tak gerak2, no?

i've chopped my locks and dyed my hair earlier this year with Avantlamode, just because the old color was growing out. my friends decided to chop off their locks instead of favoring the french twist and hairspray, so i decided to follow suit haha (and because short hair makes you look younger they say hahahha). my hair is now a weird shade of green. i cannot wait for my hair to grow longer and have it redyed again to a color i'm more comfortable with. my kids are delighted with the relevation that yellow + blue actually does make green, bahahahhahah.
with regards to my offspring, this year my #3 graduates from kindy and is going to primary school next year. my #2 received an award from Kafa. next year is going to be hectic with three kids in Primary, the last one in kindy, and the eldest sitting for her UPSR (i secretly think that i'm going to stress out more than she being stressed herself, heck i'm not even sure if she will be, hmmmmm). some asks me, when do you wanna add on? i will punch the next person that asks me that. i'm going to have to upgrade my vehicle to a bus liddat. i have yet to sew on their school badges onto their uniforms for next year's term.
this year i joined Viper - twice - and dragged a bunch of random friends along for the second time around (two Spartan pros, who i think found Viper to be easy peasy, simple pimple =P). due to my comprehensiveness of attempting the 20km route, we signed up for the 5km and despite my out-of-shapedness (if there ever is a word), we plan to do the 20km just for the sake of the awesome obstacles next year, choooooiiii LOL. i'm still thinking twice (no, make that 1000 times) about joining Spartan again, though. can die joining that one. my next year resolution would be to eat less, ganti puasa and be a bit more fit next year, lol.
i've come to realize that despite all the upsides, rushed timelines may not be a good thing, because good things can come to an end a tad too soon even before you realize it. for some people, that is.
WITHOUT EVEN THINKING OR BATTING AN EYELASH. hahahahhahaha.

after the adrenaline wears off:

(*WHAT WAS I THINKING??!*)

all is good, though. Viper's no Spartan, and since one of Viper's sponsors is Great Eastern, i can guarantee that the event organizers do not secretly want to kill their participants (i'm kidding). as long as you have the spirit and enthusiasm, i'm sure you'll do fine in Viper. i mean i've seen people from all walks of life participating, it's a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle, at the same time being able to bond and have fun with your team members in the process. who else will be willing to haul your heavy arse over a 10 feet wall? =P some of them even had matching outfits made with their names emblazoned on the back, cool eh?

well anyway, back to all that adrenaline - since Viper had an early bird special for ticket prices, i randomly rounded up a bunch of friends to join me: my uni-mate, his Spartan-mate, his Aunt, and my babywearing-mate. gila random kan, ahahhahahah. my uni-mate had just earned his Spartan trifecta, Viper's considered kacang for him. among the five of us, my babywearing-mate and my friend's aunt were newbies to Viper. and guess what we named our team? Debab Kingdom, HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA
we chose the 5km (clean and dry) route (12 obstacles with running in between) because i wasn't very confident in covering the 20km route due to its freaking long distance, despite me wanting to attempt the more fun (read: wet and muddier) route which had a whopping 25 obstacles. nanti terkexut pulak the Viper newbies =D~ next year perhaps?

or perhaps they could create a 50-obstacle course with very little running in between. LOL

muka cun sebelum start course

the start time that we were assigned to was at 8.30am. word of advice, if you want to avoid the human traffic buildup at each obstacles, you might want to choose the earliest start time possible. plus, the weather won't be hot. luckily for us the skies were very accommodating; halfway through the course, it started to drizzle.

i'll just let the photos do the talking. there weren't that many, but i'm glad there were any at all. i didn't bring my phone during my first Viper event because i didn't know what to expect, i mean i had to immerse my whole body into a murky watery pit for Spartan, and my phone definitely wasn't waterproof (post challenge i saw my friend from another team posting photos of themselves at every single obstacle hi Yuzmin! hahahhahaha). if it wasn't for my friend who took so many random shots, we probably would only have photos of ourselves just at the Finish line.
when you hang out with gorgeous girls long enough, their gorgeousness will definitely rub off on you, don't you think?
(proof: they say i look like i'm in my late 20s, score! =D now i really do wish i was still in my late 20s hahaha).
anyways, these fly girls finally complete their training this week after 80+ days of training. #jeles
i am grateful to have gotten to know these bunch of people. i wish them all the best in the skies!
on another note, the Pilot is grounded for another month (#B738forever punye pasal lol), so it's been awhile since i boarded an aircraft. i miss the adrenaline rush each time flying on standby... i miss the smell of the aircraft cabin... i miss getting to know the crew (and listen to their gossip, haha). macam2 lah i miss when it comes to this metal bird! i'd say being in the company for the past 1.5 years has been a refreshing experience; one, being a totally different industry from my previous companies; and two, the majority of employees being Malay (culture shock, i tell u bahahahhaha).

here's to surviving the second half of the year in the company =D
am grateful for the opportunities given, made a ton of new friends along the way, and am looking forward to the challenges ahead. the ups maybe, the downs? not so. but what choice do i have? =D
