lunart dolls by Desi

i'm feeling abit girly today! =D

(nahhh, the actual reason is that i've exhausted my fsot pasttime save for that psm i've been eyeing forever and occasional dose of cwp, so i need to find a new hobby haha)

my daughter has been repeating the same thing every day: 'i wanna buy doll for birthday'. and now i feel like i want one for myself ROFL (er, or should i buy one for Dinara for her 2nd birthday? ummm...).

apart from DFH and Bamboletta, Desi is another Waldorf doll maker, yet-to-be well-known, therefore abit more reasonably priced. she's from Spain! and she still offers customs, so at least there's hope for slow internet connectors like me to actually own one. she owns her own Etsy store here.

contrary to what people say about dolls being abit superstitious religion-wise, i still think they're cute.

here are a couple of my faves: (photos are all from Desi)

aren't they cute? =P~~~

i found it

i remember vaguely ranting about how one of Dayana's key teethers disappeared years ago into thin air, i practically ransacked the house looking for it, but to no avail. things do not simply disappear into thin air, although harry potter's theory about items 'temporarily shrinking in size' just to annoy humans seems kinda possible, in the mind of mua that is =P.

it annoys the hell out of me when i can't find things. irritates me more that i can actually visualize the item at several possible places, only to ransack the place and end up finding zilch.

it is a pain to keep track of everything you own, i not only have to take care of my things, but the kids and Significant Other as well. he thinks i'm supposed to be some kind of electronic storage device or something. i on the other hand, do not wish to live my life solely 'looking for items'. tiring task ok, especially when you've already archived in your brain where everything is, only to have someone mess it up without telling you, and you end up losing things anyway. grrr.

i guess you already know by now that i suck at organizing. hee~~

anyway, i was looking for screws for that shelf my bil helped me set up in my room, it partially collapsed this morning causing several Transformers to fall to their deaths. apparently he didn't fit in all the screws for the shelf, so the shelf finally gave in to the weight of all those fat Transformers. my bil is currently studying to become a civil engineer in Portsmouth, but because of this mishap i am never stepping foot into any building that he has a part of designing in the future hahahahahah.

apa punya worksmanship ni?

back to me scouring for screws, i chanced upon the key teethers as i was ransacking his drawers for the extra screws that he might have kept for himself. huwaaaaaaaaaaa marah betul i, i carik pusing keliling buang tenaga dan raga and what else you name it. what the heck was he doing with the keys??? @_@

the long missed teether!!!

i also dislike keeping track of my daughter's toys. i gave up counting the number of cups, spoons, plates, forks, yada yada that she has for her toy kitchen downstairs. lagi lagi her magnetic alphabets that end up everywhere in the house. if you ask her where her toys are, she'll just answer 'i don't know!' and for added measure, lift up our bed skirting as if her missing toy will magically appear under our bed. tsk.

my method of searching is not to rush into looking for stuff, you'll end up not finding it. i wait a couple of hours (or maybe days) then start to look for it with a fresh mind. i almost always do find what i'm looking for (even though it takes days =P), unless i've already thrown it away or deem it to be useless and is just another piece of junk. Significant Other is the opposite though. pfft. i say he looks with his nose rather than his eyes. kggal.

ugh so sue me, i'm not perfect. i wish to be. but it's impossible to organize with limited room space and especially if you live with a pure hoarder, we have lots of things that are better off living in the storeroom than in our room (if we had a storeroom, that is). i seriously need expertise in cramming all of your items into a room that is only 50% the size of the total number of items that you have.

Saturday morning i teman Significant Other pergi jogging at the recreational park in the neighboring section. mimpi siang kot pukul 6 pagi he already woke me up saying 'jom!'. jergh. tengah semangat because he just got his DCA approval and has an upcoming medical checkup next week (reet, he actually kembanged when i relayed to him your comment kah kah kah).

i haven't exercised in centuries ever since i gave birth to Dayana - those two kids were my exercise! but apparently i'm soo out of shape because i was only a quarter done through the track when i started having side cramps. kah kah kah. managed only two rounds (90% consisted of brisk walking lol) before heading back to the house. the park has a playground for children, and a number of scattered picnic benches, maybe i'll bring the kids and bibik around next time.

then... i woke up the next day with every single joint in my body aching. kggal.

Sunday morning was spring cleaning time, which meant trying my very best to get rid of all the dust accumulated in the room @_@. i succeeded in vacuuming two very live cockroaches to their drowning deaths (ritz wasn't kidding when he said it could vacuum cockroaches, lizards even). i am not afraid of cockroaches ONLY IF i had a can of Ridsect in my hand (oh, you should've seen us that morning, Significant Other standing on the bed, me standing on Dayana's stool, ROTFL). anyway, Dayana made my day when i was talking to her while emptying out the contents of our vacuum cleaner in the bathroom. she's still in the Dora phase where she'll always exclaim things like, 'ooh, i love ice-cream!'. she asked me 'what you doing, Mommy?' so i told her that i was throwing away the lipas (as well as all the dust i managed to collect from our room) when she suddenly exclaimed 'oooh, i love lipas!' X_X i asked her again, 'you love lipas? ewwww, lipas is yucks!' then she thought for abit, then said, 'oh no. no no no. i don't like lipas. yucks!'. it's like she talks on autopilot or something without even understanding herself sometimes, lol.

but it's fun to hold conversations with her these days :)

here's a picture of Dinara entertaining herself in front of the mirror again. hehe.

muahs :*

btw, have you bought tickets for Transformers yet? i have!

mommy i wanna buy titan

ok so previously if you remember, it was 'Mommy, i wanna buy doll! yes!'.

this week it's 'Mommy i wanna buy titan!'.

titan = chuggington. she found a Toys R Us pamphlet lying around the house and kept telling bibik and anyone else willing to listen to her that she wants to buy titan.

when i get home from work the first thing she tells me is 'Mommy i wanna buy titan'.

when Daddy called me on the phone yesterday i could hear her screaming in the background, 'Mommy i wanna buy titan!'.

@_@. i asked her, i thought you wanna buy doll? she answered 'nooooo i wanna buy titan-lah!'.

cheit. cepat gila tukar pikiran.

then she showed me the pamphlet and pointed 'i wanna buy this and this and this...'.

i asked her, 'adik punye yg mana?'. oh, adik dia pun she sudah tolong pilih toy hokeh. hahahaha.

on another note, Dinara managed to decapitate a rubber keychain in the shape of an elephant to look like a pig - despite being toothless, she managed to bite the elephant's trunk off.

oops.

June 22, 2011

blender + steamer

when Dinara started solids i was kinda eyeing this:

but Significant Other put his foot down asking whether it was worth the price? and we still had a perfectly functioning blender and steamer that i had used during Dayana's time. chis. kalau beli harddisk or whatever uninteresting-to-me gadget dekat PC fair, tak pikir twice, terus beli without a blink of an eye. hampeh!

but ok la fine, i pikir at least with that money i can buy this blouse i've been eyeing at Zara since yesterday, haha (dah la Zara Basics, mahal pulak tu, chis betul branded clothings nih).

today i was talking to a friend, and she gave me this link. functions more or less like Phillips Avent.

the latter costs much cheaper than the former, according to my friend. Phillips Avent blender + steamer costs rm399 at normal price. i'm not sure where you can get the Baby Brezza brand though. my friend's dot will be starting solids in a months' time so she's the one doing all the research lol.

just managed to racun that friend to get herself Freestyle though, haha. now if only i can influence her to buy a kain buruk' as she calls it... LOL.

even blenders pun i boleh eksaited, haha. anyway, your baby's first eating experience is a moment that you can't miss. Dinara is a happy eater, she'll happily swallow anything you offer her, no kidding. even meds pun she'll happily take, much to Mommy's delight. her food dia makan, kakaks' food dia makan, even our food pun dia mau, mengamuk if you eat in front of her and don't offer her a bite. lol.

i bought her Munchkin's Fresh Food Feeder for her at FabulousMom last weekend. she seemed to enjoy sucking on it, dunno if it's beneficial to let her suck on it or just chuck small pieces into her mouth for nutrition? beats me. the one thing her older sister isn't grabbing out of her hands.

ugh, speaking of which, i'm hungry. feel like eating mcD's double cheese burger before going back.

Dayana update: she's starting to learn that the iPad is actually more interesting than her iPod, with the drawback that the iPad is wayyy heavier than her iPod. oh, and she prefers her smellier Wee than the other freshly washed Wee. i have to practically hide the ickier one before she'll accept the newer one. haih.

ok, i'm off now. need.to.clean.the.room.before.mil.comes.home.

ugh.

hempies =D

i got these ages ago but due to pure kedekutness, i shipped them to my friend, who in turn helped me lug them back to Malaysia (again, thanks Sade!). can already consider them basi wraps, hoho.

(t-b): POC hemp, GHI, Ocean Grad hemp

hemp geekery by a hemp-noob! =P~

1. poc grad 4: soft, already broken in. the pink is lovely! as thin as my former holiday keepsake hemp which i sold to fund ocean grad hemp. the dyed job isn't that perfect (compared to my cgw grad) but the colors can nonetheless be photographed beautifully each time.

2. ghi 5: initially disliked its original swatch. but eventually loved the looks of it in action photos in the threads, and eventually started stalking for one =P. got it for a decent price too. medium thin wrap imo. a long term keeper.

3. ocean grad 5: wanted to get this to replace the natty linen in shades of blues that i sold due to it being size 6 - am a nutters for blue grads. raised funds by selling off my only hemp at the time, no remorse as it was a size 6 which i dislike. i love love love the colors, the only turnoff to me is that it's thicker than than the hemps that came through my door.

it's actually this one at Turquoise Fields.

action pic!

only tried one for pics yesterday, haven't tried the other two yet. dayana is down with a bad cough since last night, and just as i was about to sleep she successfully woke up and threw up all over our bed and Baby Bop T_T.

perang makan ubat is starting shortly at the Monsoon road. haha.

happy father's day

... and the father has just left earlier for Sepang Circuit to attend that 2011 Super GT International Series. we have a wedding to attend to this evening. so... that's Father's Day celebration for you this year. lol.

is anyone going for that Oreo event at One Utama today? thought of going but the Daddy mia pulak. haha. i've already created a t-shirt though. besides, my mom just called us to join them for lunch in Subang with Daddy (jangan jeles Aya!), so me will be joining them right after i finish this blogpost.

i love Oreos back when i was younger. i didn't like the center filling though. so i'd take apart the biscuit and duck the oreo into a glass of milk, then the white filling i discard =P.

actually the reason i'm posting about this is because it's mentioned that Aaron Aziz will be there sometime today. anyone who actually follows that Nora Elena series (i don't but my WA friends do, the leader of the fan club is my good friend Norley =P) would surely know this name. i'm a malay movie/series noob so i'm relieved i haven't been sucked into the NE hype, kekeke.

i attended REM's wedding yesterday afternoon but i didn't take any photos (i can't believe it took me some time to find the entrance to the hall's carpark! @_@). we (me and Dayana) sat down to eat, said hi to the bride and groom (Dayana called the bride princess!) and on our way out i bumped into Dilot, Ikhwan and Hussien. oh and here's a photo from yesterday, i was rushing to attend this:

MBW Gathering at TTDI June 2011

june gathering! no newbies were around though, so in the end it was like a borak-borak session, which was totally my cup of tea :). nina bawak the fuel! thanks nina!love nina's cupcakes, the kids loved it too, Dinara's poop even smelled SWEET this morning, kah kah kah. her moist chocolate cuppies are tdf, but i tak sempat merasa yesterday, the vultures sambared everything =P~

i got to try lila azzuro yesterday, but i didn't take photos! T_T didn't manage to meet up with Sade too, i didn't get her replies via email.

i need to shower and get ready. you Daddies out there have a great day ahead!

xoxo

ETA: (Monday June 20th)
Significant Other mentioned to me later that day that Dayana wished him 'Happy Father's Day' while he was still in the shower. he couldn't hear her that well though, but i think she nailed the 'happy' and 'day', hahaha. i tried to get her to say 'Happy Atuk's Day' but she looked at me as if i was crazy.

otw to KGNS, dayana mentioned 'tommy's house'. i asked her who was tommy, is that her friend? she said yes. puas la i racked my brains trying to recall who the heck was tommy (thomas? ui? er?) until it hitted me that she was actually trying to say 'Tok Ami's house'. cheit.

oh btw, Dinara loves to exclaim 'eh?' 'ehh???'. hahaha.

Dinara's says hi!

we arrived fashionably late for Dini's reception on Sunday night @_@. Dini is the most beautiful bride ever. one thing i found amusing about this wedding was that since the Agong and the Sultan of Kelantan was present, the bride and groom had to sit far apart from each other at the high table. apa bes itu? haha. this friend of mine truly is blessed. *pssttt... what's your secret? =D

taken from Qippy's website. they do awesome photos!

Significant Other told me he got stuck in a terrible traffic jam otw back from the circuit yesterday via Elite Highway. i wasn't there so i dunno what happened, but here's an account from a link i googled off the internet here.

er, all i can say is, what a total waste of moolah *CRY*

pavlova

i first tasted pavlova at Serai, the Empire. i've been reading about pavlovas and macarons and red velvet reviews so i was tempted to try them. i've tasted red velvet only once, pavlova twice (from the same store, lol), and a couple of macs, including the one my friend Emi loves to bake (thanks Emi!). people kept saying the pavlova at Alexis is nice, tapi satu kerje i nak harung the traffic into KL just for a slice of cake. i think there's an Alexis in the Gardens though. are they the same?

one slice of pavlova costs about rm15 *cry* so after seeing my friend Rinie's post about how she managed to bake a pavlova (bake, not buy hahaha) i decided to bug her for the recipe. you know, just in case i get the aura to actually create one myself in the future. =P~~~

i have yet to try this on my own because i am mentally-challenged in the kitchen. so i'm jotting the recipe here so that i won't have to search hi n lo for it later. i hope that's ok.

Rinie gave me this link: Easy Recipe for Pavlova. they even have step by step directions with photos too.

Prep Time: 40 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour, 15 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour, 55 minutes

Ingredients:
•4 large egg whites at room temperature
•1 cup of Castor sugar, also known as "Berry sugar"
•1 tsp of white vinegar
•1/2 Tbsp of cornstarch
•1/2 tsp of pure vanilla extract
•1/2 cups of whipping cream
•Fresh fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, kiwi fruit, passionfruit, bananas, blueberries
•1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

Preparation:
1.Preheat the oven to 275F (140C) and place the rack in middle of the oven. Line a baking tray with foil and draw a 7 inch circle on the foil with the blunt edge of a knife (don't tear the foil). Set aside.
2.In a clean, medium-sized metal bowl, beat the egg whites with a clean electric mixer on medium speed. Beat until the whites form soft peaks.
3.Gently sprinkle the sugar into the egg whites, one teaspoon at a time. Don't just lump the sugar in the bowl and never stop beating the eggs until you finish the sugar. Your egg whites should now be glossy stiff peaks.
4.Sprinkle the cornstarch and vinegar on the meringue and fold in gently with a plastic spatula. Add the vanilla and gently fold the mixture again.
5.Now gently spread the meringue in the circle on the foil to make a circular base. Make sure the edges of the meringue are slightly higher then the center so you have a very slight well in the middle.
6.Bake the meringue for about 1 hour and 15 minutes or until it goes a very pale, pinkish egg shell color.
7.Turn the oven off and leave the door slightly ajar to let the meringue cool completely. As the meringue cools, it will crack slightly.
8.Just before serving, take the meringue out of the oven and remove it gently from the foil and place on a plate.
9.Whip the cream with the vanilla extract until it forms peaks. Prepare the fruit by washing and slicing.
10.Gently spread the cream to the top of the meringue with a spatula and arrange the fruit on top.

also, my friend Fifie recently baked pavlova that looks totally scrumptious (she posted a pic in her FB) so i also couldn't resist jotting down her recipe =P.

Ingredients:
•4 egg whites
•1 1/4 cups white sugar
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•1 teaspoon lemon juice
•2 teaspoons cornstarch
•1 pint heavy cream
•6 kiwi, peeled and sliced

Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Draw a 9 inch circle on the parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Gradually add in the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until thick and glossy. Overbeaten egg whites lose volume and deflate when folded into other ingredients. Be absolutely sure not a particle of grease or egg yolk gets into the whites. Gently fold in vanilla extract, lemon juice and cornstarch.
3. Spoon mixture inside the circle drawn on the parchment paper. Working from the center, spread mixture toward the outside edge, building edge slightly. This should leave a slight depression in the center.
4. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a wire rack.
5. In a small bowl beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form; set aside. Remove the paper, and place meringue on a flat serving plate. Fill the center of the meringue with whipped cream, sweetened if desired. Top whipped cream with kiwi fruit slices.

if i ever get around to doing it, i will let you know. hahaha.

i wanna buy doll

i was browsing through photos of Waldorf dolls from Dragonfly's Hollow when my daughter came up to get a closer look at my PC screen.

"mommy i wanna buy doll," she tells me.
i told her, " mommy'll buy you one for your birthday, ok?"
she repeated my sentence to herself. i'm sensing she has no idea what that means.
"ok, yes!" she says enthusiastically.
wanders off, singing 'happy birthday to mommy' to herself.

both kids birthday are in 3 months' time.

might as well. because i have no idea what to get for her birthday, and for Dinara as well. even Significant Other was wondering if he could combine presents this year. pfft =P.

now each time we go out, she'll say she wanna go out to buy a doll.
i tell her if she's naughty and cariek pasal with her baby sister, she won't get a doll for her birthday.

lately she lugs her Baby Bop and BJ stuffed toys around with her. sometimes she puts them to sleep, sometimes she demands to carry Baby Bop with my fish wraps. and she brings them to sleep with her.

i wonder if she's at that age that will appreciates dolls. and i really wonder if that once she gets a doll, is it possible to make her give up that smelly blankie of hers.

i used to have a small collection of barbie dolls that i torture by chopping off their hair with scissors. poor plastic inhuman beings. mwahahahahah.

oh well, at least i know what to get for her birthday. i dunno what Dinara is interested in, she loves to eat. give her something to munch on, and she's happy. i can't even carry her with my bare hands without getting an armache not long after.

speaking of which, i have to go buy Dayana's milk and some biscuits for Dinara. dang. can i buy them tomorrow?

one birthday too many

i know three people who are celebrating their birthday today.

1. my sister @ bukan kalish, angah lah!

2. bestie Sarah Harun

3. fellow babywearer Syahidah

wishing the three of you many happy returns! =) it's raining in KL today, so i suppose you can dub this as hujan rahmat. LOL.

....
....
....
....

can u believe i am out of ideas on what to blog about? i feel kinda upbeat today. probably because i wore my hair down today after a long time pulling it up in a messy knot all this while. i'm glad i didn't rebond my hair (the last i did rebonding was in 2009) and i'm out of ideas on what style i should do this time round. definitely not short, nonono. my hair needs weight. my hair is at that length where i see myself in the mirror and think, 'oh no, puppy dog ears!' T_T.

i just uploaded photos from my memory card, wanna see? random of course.

Dayana's new form of smile... creepy

Dinara fascinated by her reflection

Dinara propped into a sitting position

Santa Di Nara

and here's the two of them together:

i guess this is what you call being almost 'Wordless Wednesday'. haha.

hmmm... i baru perasan the eldest will always be on the left side of the photo... coincidence? haha. my kids are growing up so fast!

June 7, 2011

junior babywearer

ni angkara i taught her how to carry Mickey Mouse last time. when she sees me grabbing a wrap, she'll go 'nak carry fish Mommy!'. i'll tell her 'Mommy carry adik first okay?' (also Mommy tak larat nak angkat such a heavy toddler on my back, mau patah pinggang dennn) so instead of me wrapping her, i told her to wrap her toy instead. for the record, i don't have any doll carrier so i had to figure out a way to dispose of the tails each time i mummify her with 3.6m+ of material.

the following photograph was taken yesterday. out of the blue she came up to me with Baby Bop and said, 'Mommy nak carry Baby Bop?' so i told her to get a wrap. she came back dragging my TSF - apparently she has a thing for fish wraps lately. it was either that or DSF (she hasn't noticed GF i think). i tried backcarry but the wrap kept slipping off her narrow shoulders. so this time i tied FWCC for her. she was so pleased to carry. just see the look on her face, haha.

proud babywearer =D

i know some people have already determined legacy wraps for their kids, but i haven't yet because i know i will be biased to choose what i like more =P.

three things i'm pondering in the long run:
- psm
- moss
- aqua waves

June 6, 2011

the kids and my weekend

haven't been updating much on the kids. one drives me crazy with her insistent questions, the other drives me crazy crawling around the floor grabbing everything she knows she's not allowed to play with @_@

dayana:

it's fun having conversations with her. we understand only about 50% of what she's trying to say, haha.
she loves lending a helping hand when asked, but sometimes she does it the other way round too. she'll ask me to get her something and when i ask her to get it herself, she'll go 'no, you take, Mommy!'
she seems to like draggin her Baby Bop and BJ, along with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
bile dah habis counting, she'll say 'good counting!' (from watching too much Dora)
sometimes mixes up her 'thank you' and 'you're welcome' (which sounds more like 'yu-weh-kom') - dia yang tolong tapi dia yg tengkiu
needs persuading to share her toys with Dinara. sometimes she'll end up longgokking everything she took away from Dinara onto our bed T_T
is the policeman watching out for Dinara. examples:
- no eating the tissue, adik!
- look Mommy, adik pergi toilet! (Dinara making her way to the bathroom door)
- adik that's mine! (then grabbing whatever toy out of Dinara's hands @_@)

recently insists to sleep togede2 with me wherever i was sleeping at night @_@. there was one time she wanted to sleep with 'bibip'.
doesn't want to sit on the potty T_T.
ask her to sing ABC, mau. confuzzles her LMNOPs though... sounds more like MNMOP. haha. ask her to sing her ABC pakai mike, takmo pulak. haiz~
loves the attention she gets from Auntie Noreen.

dinara:

she still crawls like an ulat.
when i put her into a sitting position, i scatter a bunch of toys around her to amuse herself with. but she's unable to get out from that position and will start wailing for help once she gets bored. she has yet to sit up on her own.
previously if we take things away from her she didn't really mind. these days however, she'll protest and starts wailing each time Dayana takes anything away from her. sudah pandai this one.
lately she doesn't sleep throught the night T_T. not really sure why @_@

oh and here's a photo i took of her this morning in front of the mirror. she's never been too fascinated with mirrors. but i caught her this morning staring for abit at her reflection. then she caught me staring at her and immediately started crawling away. lol.

Dinara & the Reflection

i saw X-Men First Class last weekend. and James McAvoy is hot. it's difficult for me to register that in the long run he'll eventually end up looking like Patrick Stewart. haha. this movie does NOT have an end bit after the credits scene. haha. weird, especially when it's movies like this that's supposed to have one. probably because it's a prequel, perhaps? =D

congratulations to the newly weds, Johan & Dee! i can't believe Dee allowed Johan to use the Manchester United logo as background for their wedding card invitation lol. their Sunday reception theme was actually red and black... and on the groom's blazer, there was a Manchester United logo emblazed on it - lol again. pics later after Significant Other uploads them into the PC.

sunset on sunset

bah. i miss my moss. i think this is the first wrap i've ever had seller's remorse. but i'm happy it's gone off to a good home, the intial reason why i had it in the first place =P~~

and i have no idea when azur will be having its makeover T_T

so let's lust over sunset!!!

squeeee~~~~

this one has just recently gone off to a new home... nobody here wanted it. sniff. one of my first SSCs i owned. rarely used it, i couldn't get the hang of the infant insert. it was the only print i liked from the series.

a whole bunch has left the coop recently... i wonder if i should create a tribute? haha. ni takde keje sangat la ni.

had lunch with shinchan today. i haven't seen this cutie pie in ages. he seemed in a really upbeat mood today. i'm happy for him =). we had lunch at delicious, and his caesar salad had to be replaced because we found something icky in his dish. ewwww. by then he was halfway full, so i got to bring back the extra. i had beef lasagna btw. i haven't been here in ages so i didn't really know what to order. didn't see any pavlova anywhere though =P.

in our head we were thinking, they could have just got rid of the evidence and serve back the remaining, but they wouldn't be so evil, would they? kahkahkahkah.
